Settle into a comfortable position.
Let your body be supported.
There is nothing you need to do right now.
Know where you need to go.
Gently close your eyes if that feels okay.
Take a slow breath in and softly let go.
Again,
Breathing in and breathing out.
Allow your shoulders to drop.
Soften your jaw.
Relax your hands.
Let your body begin to feel heavy.
With each exhale,
Give yourself permission to let go a little more.
Breathing in,
Breathing out.
Notice the surface beneath you.
Notice the quiet of this moment.
You do not have to force sleep.
You are simply allowing rest.
If your mind is still busy,
That is okay.
You do not need to chase after your thoughts.
You do not need to fix them.
Just keep returning to the breath.
Inhale gently through the nose.
Exhale slowly through the mouth.
Silently say to yourself,
Breathing in,
I am safe.
Breathing out,
I am resting.
Let the breath become easy.
Let the body become soft.
Let this moment hold you.
If sleep comes,
Let it come naturally.
If you are still awake,
That is okay too.
You are already resting.
You are already slowing down.
Take one final soft breath in and slowly exhale.
Now simply rest.
