Hi,
This is Teresa Conte.
Welcome to tool number nine in the Just for Today series.
I'd like to thank you for joining me today as I share the last tool in Al-Anon's Just for Today bookmark.
And as usual,
A few related comments.
Each of the bookmark's nine tools provide guidance for how to live our lives with greater ease,
Joy,
And abundance.
So settle in,
Open your heart,
And see how today's tool resonates with you.
Today's tool reads,
Just for today,
I will be unafraid.
Especially,
I will not be afraid to enjoy what is beautiful and to believe that as I give to the world,
So the world will give to me.
Today's tool also reminds me of a quote from Emma Curtis Hopkins,
One of my spiritual teachers and mentors.
She wrote,
Everything is as good to us as we have been to it.
I know that it can be hard for those of us who have been in challenging situations,
Including a relationship with someone who's suffering from an addiction.
The passing of a loved one,
Or other significant loss.
It can be hard to let go of fear and to ruminate over what has occurred or what we could have done differently.
And we may worry that things aren't going to work out for us in the future based on life's uncertainty.
Or due to what we may have experienced in the past.
It takes conscious effort to create a new habit.
To switch our focus from fear or discouragement to noticing,
Enjoying,
And taking in the beauty that is all around us,
Or to be aware of the ways life has been and is there for us.
But we can do it.
As we reflect on the friends,
Coworkers,
Or even strangers who have shown up for us in the past when needed,
Or as we reflect on the books,
Signs,
Programs,
And synchronicities that provided the wisdom,
Insights,
Or support we needed when least expected,
Right out of the blue,
That helped us shift our perspective or meet our challenges with greater ease,
You we can validate the ways life has and is showing up for us.
As we shift our focus just for today,
One day at a time,
We can look around and notice what is beautiful.
In our world,
In our relationships,
In our homes,
Our experiences,
And most importantly,
Within ourselves.
As we do so,
Our lives begin to move in a positive direction.
And it becomes easier to notice and appreciate what's beautiful.
And in time when practiced on a regular consistent basis can add to our sense of well-being and happiness.
So I invite you just for today to take 5 to 20 seconds a few times during the day to expand your vision and to look around and notice what's beautiful.
In your home,
In your environment,
In your relationships,
Or even as you look outside your window.
Can begin to look with fresh eyes to let each moment be new.
To inspire us to appreciate who we are,
Where we are,
What we have,
And the many ways that life is showing up for us.
These last few weeks,
I've been much more mindful about thanking the things in my home,
Like my fan,
As it's been unseasonably hot here in Italy.
And my refrigerator for keeping my food cold on these extremely hot days and contributing to making my life more comfortable and convenient.
Everything is vibration.
Even the inanimate objects in our world can sense our energy and appreciation.
At least that's my experience and perspective.
You may have a different view,
And that's okay too.
As we turn our attention from fear to love,
To giving and receiving.
We open to something greater.
And come to believe.
That as we give to the world.
So the world will give to us.
Everything starts with an intention.
Let's set our intention today to enjoy what's beautiful.
Thank you so much once again for joining me for the Just for Today series.
If you haven't yet heard the previous eight tools,
I invite you to take a listen and see what messages may be there for you.
If there are tools that resonate or have resonated with you,
I invite you to take some time to listen to them again,
As you may find deeper meaning the next time you hear them.
And if there are or were tools you didn't particularly resonate with,
You may find greater value listening to them again sometime in the future.
Like a book or a movie that doesn't speak to us when we initially read or watch it.
But has significant impact on us down the line.
The same may be true for the tools that may not have spoken to you in the moment.
So you might like to give them another listen,
Should you feel inspired.
I hope you enjoyed the series.
It's been such a pleasure to share the Al-Anon tools with you.
I hope you find and will continue to find them helpful.
Wishing you a moment of peace.
A day,
A lifetime filled with love,
Joy,
And beauty.
With love,
Teresa.
