Welcome,
My friend.
This is Samantha,
The Blissful Soul.
It's important that we take time for these types of practices to relax and settle down before bed in our fast-paced world.
Not only does it impact you,
But it impacts your relationships with everyone around you.
So take some time to get into a comfortable position lying down.
I suggest putting a pillow underneath your head.
If you have a second one,
Or a bolster,
You might put it under your knees.
Now,
Once you have settled in,
Extend your legs.
And take a deep breath in,
And let it out.
Rotate your feet and ankles a few times,
And point and flex your feet.
Just totally unwind.
This is your time.
Get real comfortable so you can begin to relax.
Let your feet,
Legs,
Your shins,
Your knees,
And the quads get heavy,
Feeling them getting heavy on the earth.
Feel the connection and support it has for you.
Feel your hips getting heavy as well.
Now take a deep breath in,
And fill the belly with air,
And then exhale.
The whole top of your body should now feel heavy on the earth now too,
Letting go of the weight of the day.
Take a few deep breaths in and out at your own pace,
Relaxing your back and shoulders.
If you have not already,
Close your eyes and place your arms either resting at your sides,
On your stomach,
Or on your chest,
Whatever is comfortable to you.
Take a moment to make any adjustments to make sure you are really comfortable.
Now continue to breathe and focus on stillness,
Letting your mind and body rest,
Letting your eyes become heavy,
Your face rest,
Including your forehead and jaw.
Now we will take a moment to focus on the environment around you.
How's the softness of the ground or the mattress you are lying on?
Take a moment to take in this texture and how it feels.
How's the feeling of clothing you are wearing?
What stands out to you the most?
What about the blankets over you,
If any?
How is the air?
Is it cold or is it warm?
Embrace it and surrender to these conditions.
Taking this opportunity to rest no matter the environment.
Nothing is ever perfect,
But this is your time.
Tell the universe thank you for this time to rest.
Are there sounds around you?
Embrace any noises?
Perhaps conversations outside,
The sounds of the weather or even silence.
Whatever the conditions,
Know that this is your opportunity to rest and you can surrender to these conditions and embrace these conditions to find your inner peace.
Take a few moments to enjoy this time and perhaps one thing you are grateful for from your day.
It could be simple like this time of rest,
The bed you are in or your last meal.
Follow the inhale and exhale of your chest,
Moving up and down,
Letting all your stress go.
This does not need to be heavy,
But at your regular pace.
Notice any thoughts that come up here.
You do not need to ignore them.
Simply acknowledge them without worry or judgment,
Then let them go.
Simply bring your attention back to the breath.
Now you can either stay on your back or we can end the practice on our sides in the fetal position if you are heading off to bed and seeking comfort.
If you choose this position,
Slowly turn to one side.
Move one leg up and then hug your other leg closer to it.
You can either keep your head on the pillow or place your arm under your head.
Take a deep breath in and take a deep breath out.
Thank you my friend for sharing this time with me and I hope you sleep well.
Take good care.
