Hi,

I'm Britt,

The Valley Bee.

Welcome to Northwest Nights.

I'm so glad you're here.

Tonight,

You are not here to improve yourself.

You are here to rest.

Take what serves you and allow the rest to float by like clouds.

You are always free to move,

To pause,

To drift off.

Your only job is to soften.

Before we enter the forest,

Take one quiet moment to arrive in your body.

Feel the surface beneath you,

The mattress,

The pillow,

The floor.

Let it hold the full weight of your body.

If it feels comfortable,

Take one slow breath in through your nose and a long,

Unhurried breath out through your mouth.

Again,

Inhale gently and exhale completely.

Notice where your body is making contact with support.

The back of your head,

Your shoulders,

Your hips,

Your heels.

You do not need to adjust anything unless it would feel kinder to do so.

Let your tongue rest softly in your mouth.

Unclench your jaw and that space between your eyes too.

There is nowhere else you need to be.

And now we step onto the trail.

Tonight,

Imagine you are standing at the edge of a cedar forest in the Pacific Northwest.

It is dusk,

That quiet blue hour when the world begins to exhale.

The air is cool and lightly scented with damp earth and evergreen.

There is a softness to the light,

A deepening indigo stretching between the horizon.

You step gently onto the path.

Gravel presses beneath your feet with the faintest crunch.

Each step unhurried,

Each step steady.

You are alone here,

But you are not lonely.

Alone in the way that feels like being returned to yourself.

Tall cedar trees rise on either side of you.

Their trunks wide and grounded,

Bark textured and ancient.

They have been standing here longer than any worry that you have carried here today.

A breeze moves slowly through the canopy above.

Branches whisper to one another.

The sound is distant and steady,

Like a soft ocean suspended in leaves.

You continue walking.

Ferns spill into the edges of the trail,

Bright and delicate.

Moss wraps around fallen logs in thick velvet layers.

Everything here grows at its own pace.

Nothing strains.

Nothing is rushed.

As you move deeper into the forest,

You may notice your own rhythm beginning to slow.

Your shoulders have softened.

Your jaw is lax.

Your breath lengthens without effort.

Inhale the cool forest air,

And exhale the weight of the day.

The path curves gently and opens to a small clearing.

A fallen cedar forms a natural bench,

Smoothed by time and weather.

You decide to sit.

The earth beneath you feels solid and steady,

Supportive in a way that asks nothing in return.

Above you the sky deepens,

Further into the blue.

One early star appears between the branches.

The forest is not silent,

But it is peaceful.

A distant bird calling goodnight.

The subtle shift of branches.

The quiet hum of insects settling into their evening routines.

You place your hands on your legs.

Feel the warmth of your palms.

The rise and fall of your breath.

There is nothing required of you here.

You are not someone holding everything together.

You are not tending to anything else.

Here you are simply a body breathing among trees.

Imagine now that from the soles of your feet,

Gentle roots begin to extend down.

They move slowly through the soil rich with fallen leaves and time.

They do not force their way.

They simply connect.

You are supported by that same ground that supports these towering cedars.

If there is anything heavy inside you tonight,

You do not have to carry it anymore.

With your next exhale,

Imagine letting a small portion of that weight drain downwards.

No effort.

Just gravity doing its work.

The forest receives it without judgment.

Another slow inhale.

And another soft release.

A thin mist begins to rise as the night settles more fully.

It drifts between the trees in pale silver ribbons.

The temperature cools slightly against your skin.

And your body responds by softening even further.

Breath becoming slower.

Thoughts drifting like fog.

Appearing and dissolving without your need to do anything.

You lean back gently against the cedar trunk behind you.

Its bark is firm and grounding against your spine.

Steady.

Above,

The stars have been multiplying quietly.

And you feel a small shift in the most comforting way.

Small enough to set things down.

Small enough to rest.

The forest does not ask you to stay awake.

It understands the wisdom of sleep.

Your breath now moves like a distant tide.

If sleep begins to come,

You are safe to follow it.

The cedar trees will remain standing.

The mist will continue to drift.

The earth will hold your weight without effort.

There is nothing left to tend to.

Nothing left to solve.

Only the steady,

Ancient quiet.

And you can rest here.

Wherever you are now.

May you trust that that is enough.

I'm Britt.

And this is The Valley Bee.

Thank you for sharing this quiet with me.
