Welcome to the Butterfly's Whisper Meditations.
Tonight.
We are going to talk about those conversations you replay over and over.
Long after they are over.
You probably see what I mean.
A discussion took place a few hours ago.
Or years ago.
And at night it comes back on its own.
You hear again.
Above all.
What you replied.
And you start over.
Trying at last to find the right answer.
The one that would have fixed everything.
Except that it does not fix anything.
The scene is already over.
And you still replay it.
At the very time when you should be asleep.
This has a name.
Rumination.
It is a common habit that starts from a good intention.
Your mind likes things to be settled.
So it goes back to the scene to repair it.
Or to prepare for next time.
But by turning around like this.
It fixes nothing.
It wears out the same scene.
Again and again.
And it keeps you awake at night.
This does not affect everyone in the same way,
And perhaps not you tonight.
If none of this speaks to you.
Keep what is useful and let the rest go.
Tonight I am not going to help you find the right answer.
There is none.
Instead.
I am going to invite you to set this scene down somewhere.
So that your mind can finally stop.
I recommend that you practice this meditation for at least 30 consecutive nights.
That is the time needed for your unconscious to absorb the content of this video.
And if you fall asleep during the practice.
Do not worry.
It is completely natural.
Your unconscious listens even while you sleep and continues to reprogram itself.
Settle into your bed.
The meditation will begin soon.
To begin.
Let your eyes come to rest.
All day long.
They have been looking for something to watch.
To read.
Tonight.
There is nothing left to look for.
So let them close and let them be the first to rest.
Take a deep breath in.
And as you breathe out.
Let your whole body sink into the bed.
Your body feels more and more relaxed.
Heavier and heavier.
More and more at ease.
Take a second deep breath in.
And as you breathe out.
Feel a wave of warmth.
Or perhaps a very soft vibration.
Gently descending from your chest and coming to settle in the hollow of your belly.
Take a third breath.
Even deeper.
And as you breathe out.
Release all the remaining tensions in your body.
The very last of them.
Now this warmth is going to spread everywhere.
Gently.
From top to bottom.
It rises first behind your head.
Right at the base.
Where your neck meets your head.
This place tightens when the same scene turns in your mind at night.
The warmth enters.
And it loosens.
It reaches your scalp.
Which relaxes.
Your forehead broadens and becomes smooth.
Like a page you smooth out with the flat of your hand.
The contour of your eyes comes to rest.
The warmth flows down over your cheeks.
Which soften.
And reaches your jaw.
This jaw closes silently when you are searching for your answer.
Tonight.
No one expects an answer.
The warmth loosens it.
Tooth by tooth.
Your lips part just a little.
Your throat on knots.
Right where the words you did not say have remained.
They can stay there.
Quietly.
With each in-breath.
The warmth takes up a little more space.
With each out-breath.
Your body grows a little heavier.
It flows down into your shoulders.
Which move away from your ears.
Like two weights that are taken out of a bag one after the other.
It runs down your arms.
Your elbows open.
Your forearms grow heavy.
Your wrists give way.
The warmth fills your hands.
And your fingers relax one by one.
It returns to the center.
Where the wave had settled.
Your chest opens with each breath.
Your belly loosens.
That place that tightens when a memory comes back.
The lower back settles fully.
Then the warmth flows down into your legs.
Your hips open.
Your thighs grow wide and warm.
Your knees loosen.
Your calves let go of what they were carrying.
Your ankles unbind.
The warmth reaches the soles of your feet.
And your toes relax.
One by one.
With each in-breath,
Your body lengthens just a little.
With each out-breath.
It sinks a little deeper.
Now feel your whole body as one.
It settles onto the bed in one single piece.
The shoulders have let go.
The jaw has let go.
Nothing in you stands guard anymore.
Everything is completely relaxed.
And your body has no time left to keep.
And in this relaxation.
Allow your unconscious to open.
You give it permission.
And it opens.
Like the sea gently retreating at low tide.
Revealing the smooth sand it was holding underneath.
And now.
Imagine on your inner screen a beach at the very end of a long summer day.
At that hour when the sun has settled just above the water.
And refuses to sink any lower.
The sea is calm.
The light is golden and warm.
And there is no one here but you.
With all the time ahead of you.
You are standing on the sand.
Still warm from the whole day.
And you feel it give way slightly under your bare feet with each step.
Soft.
As your toes sink gently into it.
The air around you carries the smell of salt and warmed stone.
Mingled with that of dried seaweed a little higher up.
And you here.
Very close by.
Small waves arriving.
Spreading out over the sand.
And drawing back without a sound.
Like a breath that takes its time.
A seabird lands a little farther away.
Folds its wings and does not move.
As if it were quietly watching over the place.
You begin to walk toward the water.
Unhurried.
And you feel the sand become firmer and cooler as you approach.
Behind you.
Your steps leave hollows.
That fill with water and glimmer.
For a moment in the light.
In front of you.
A long golden path stretches across the sea.
Straight to your feet.
And it ripples gently.
As if it were showing you the way.
You walk forward until the sand becomes smooth and wet.
And you stop there.
While the water comes to brush the tips of your feet.
BORM then draws back.
And it is there that you notice your hand has remained closed from the very beginning.
Without your deciding it.
Tightly holding something pressed against your palm.
So open it gently.
One finger at a time.
And discover in the hollow of your hand a pebble.
Gray.
Smooth and warm.
That you recognize at once.
It is that conversation.
The one you replay every evening.
You look at it more closely.
You feel it weighing a little more than it seems.
And you understand why it has become so smooth.
Each time you have gone over the scene again.
Your thumb has traced the outline of this pebble.
Again and again.
Until it knew every edge.
Right up to the precise spot where the sentence fell.
And the little hollow where you still look for the answer you did not give.
Roll it one last time between your fingers.
Gently.
And feel how it has become soft from having been turned so often.
With no sharp angle left anywhere.
You have gone around it a thousand times.
And you know now,
Deep down,
That it has given all it had to give.
And as you hold it.
You notice.
Very close to you.
Half out of the water.
A large flat stone that the sun has warmed all day.
And in which the water has carved.
At its center.
A rounded bowl filled with clear.
Calm water that the sea renews very gently.
Come closer and lean over it.
And look at the bottom.
There are already other pebbles there.
Many others.
All as smooth as yours.
All turned and turned again by someone else.
On another evening.
In another mind.
And they rest quietly at the bottom.
Under the clear water.
The light passes softly between them.
No one comes to take them back.
And they are fine where they are.
So bring your hand to the surface.
Feel the water warm at the top.
And a little cooler underneath.
Hold the pebble for just a moment longer.
Just enough time to say goodbye to it,
Then lay it flat on the water and open your hand.
And it sinks by itself.
Gently.
Moving through the clear water without haste.
Turning slightly on itself as its shape blurs while it goes down.
Until it touches the bottom beside the others and comes to rest there.
A little sand rises up around it.
Hangs for a moment in the water.
Then falls back and half covers it.
Stay leaning there for a while and look at it down at the bottom,
Among the others.
It is in its place now.
It no longer calls you.
And even though you could still take it back.
You feel that you no longer want to.
Then straighten up slowly and feel your hand.
Now that it is free.
Your thumb resting against your other fingers.
Your whole hand opening as the air passes between your spread fingers.
Light and pleasant.
And your arm lifting a little on its own.
As if relieved of a weight it had been carrying without even knowing it.
Now raise your head and look at the beach.
Farther away.
Where the sand has stayed dry and warm.
Someone is sitting facing the sea.
Knees drawn up.
And you walk calmly over there.
Across the warm sand.
Until you recognize this person by the way they sit.
It is you.
In a few months.
Sit down beside this person.
In the sand.
Shoulder to shoulder.
They make a small space for you without saying a word.
And now really take the time to feel.
In your own body.
What they feel.
Their shoulders are low.
Their hands rest open on their knees.
Their thumbs are still.
And their breath flows all the way down to the bottom of their body.
Without them having to think about it.
What do they look like?
How do they sit?
Look closely and feel it.
The back is straight.
But without the slightest effort.
The face relaxed.
Turned toward the light.
Someone grounded.
Whom nothing is rushing anymore.
And in the evening at their home.
What has changed?
Take the time to feel it in your chest.
When they go to bed.
The sea no longer comes back to fetch them,
And their head settles at the same time as their body.
Stay with them for a moment more.
And really feel what it is like to be them.
This calm in the chest.
This light head that no longer spins anything.
And clearly feel that this is not a distant dream.
That it is already within you tonight.
Then they turn toward you.
They look at you and they hold out their hand.
Palm open.
Place yours in it.
And feel their hand.
And through this palm something gently passes into you.
A quiet warmth that travels up your arm.
Crosses your shoulder and comes to rest behind your head.
At the exact spot that was tight earlier.
And there.
At last.
This place truly soothes.
You are no longer two.
You are them.
And they are you.
And this calm is yours now.
Something your body has just learned in a way no phrase could ever have taught it.
Let this image go.
Let the visualization drift away.
Around you the sea goes on speaking softly.
In a language made only of sounds.
A gentle voice that spreads and withdraws.
And you can simply listen to it.
Carried to you to accompany you.
The sun has remained resting on the water.
Warm.
As if it had decided to keep watch for you a little.
And its light traces long golden lines across the sea.
Erases them.
Draws others.
In a slow,
Endless movement that is soothing to watch without trying to follow it.
At the bottom of the stone bowl.
Very close by.
The pebbles glow softly.
Each with a small warm glimmer.
And all these scenes that others have turned over and laid down there light the water from beneath.
Like so many quiet night lights.
Yours is among them.
Lit.
Peaceful.
And you see it from here.
Watching over your sleep.
The sand holds under your back the exact shape of your body and supports you.
Warm like a pebble that has stayed in the sun.
While the beach stretches out on either side.
Farther than the eye can see.
And each small wave takes a very gentle time to reach your feet.
You now measure the distance in waves and time grows wide and slow around you.
Very far out on the water.
A boat's light flashes once.
Very softly.
As if to say it has received the message.
Then falls asleep in turn.
Above you.
The sky has filled with stars.
And perhaps they are the pebbles from the stone bowl reflected up there.
A small light.
For every mind finally at peace.
And you let them shine without counting them.
The horizon draws closer without a sound.
Like a sheet of warm light settling over you.
The sky sits down at the edge of the water.
And settles there for the night.
And everything around you.
Tidies itself away and grows calm in time with your breathing.
And as you drift towards sleep.
Something in you continues on its own.
Gathering the calm of this beach.
Pebble resting at the bottom.
The warm hand resting on yours.
And turning it.
And the secrecy of the night.
Into a peace that will still be there in the morning.
And now.
If you are not yet asleep.
Please repeat the following positive affirmations until you fall asleep.
Your unconscious will then take over.
I feel deeply at peace with my thoughts.
Calm can enter my life gently.
I open myself to simple,
Quiet nights.
I choose thoughts that make me feel good.
I feel free to leave the past behind me.
My body gradually welcomes silence.
