Hello and welcome.
I'm so glad you're here.
If you found this video,
There's a good chance you'll run in on empty.
And I don't mean a little tired.
I mean that bone deep exhaustion that sleep doesn't seem to fix.
That feeling of having given and given to work,
To people,
To responsibilities,
Until there's nothing left and you can't quite remember who you were before all of this started.
That's burnout and it's more common than most of us admit.
Now this isn't a video about fixing burnout quickly because it doesn't work like that.
What this is,
Is permission.
Permission to stop for a few minutes,
To breathe,
To simply be empty without trying to immediately fill yourself back up.
Because here's something I've come to believe deeply.
You cannot pour from an empty vessel,
But you also cannot fill a vessel that never stops long enough to recede.
This practice is that stop.
Let's take it together.
So find somewhere comfortable.
Lying down is absolutely fine.
Encouraged even.
Let your arms rest by your sides,
Close your eyes and take one breath just to arrive.
Now for the next few moments,
You're going to breathe in through your nose for four and exhale out your mouth for six.
Now I'll do the counting for you,
So all you need to do is follow my voice.
OK.
So let everything go on a slow exhale.
Get rid of all of it.
The to-do list,
The worry,
The weight of what's waiting for you.
And we'll begin.
So inhale through the nose,
2,
3,
4.
Exhale through the mouth,
2,
3,
4,
5,
6.
Inhale two,
Three,
Four.
Exhale 2,
3,
4,
5,
6.
Inhale to release.
Three four Exhale to release.
3,
4,
5,
6.
Inhale 2 3 4,
Exhale 2 3 4 5 6.
Inhale 2,

Inhale two three four exhale two,

5.
Inhale,

Exhale 2,
3,
4,
5,
6.
Inhale,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Exhale 2,
3,
4,
5,
6.
Great work,
Just breathe naturally for a moment now.
Now I want to ask you something and you don't have to answer it out loud,
Just let it sit within you.
When did you last do something just for you?
Not for productivity,
Not because it needed doing,
Just because it brought you something.
Joy,
Peace,
A moment of feeling like yourself.
If you can't remember,
That's information.
That's your body and your spirit telling you something really important.
Burnout isn't weakness,
It's the result of caring deeply for too long without enough coming back in.
It's what happens when we treat ourselves as a resource to be used rather than a life to be lived.
So if you're ready,
Let's breathe again.
So get comfortable in for four and out for six.
So just follow my voice.
Inhale,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Exhale two.
.
.
Three.
Forward.
5.
.
.
6.
.
.
Inhale to release.
3.
Excel.

2 3 4 exhale 2 3 4 5 6 inhale 2 3 4 exhale 2,

5,
6.
Inhale.
Two,
Three,
Four.
Exhale to release.
3,
4,
5,
6.
.
.
And just rest there.
Take one natural breath in.
And let it go with a long slow sigh.
And again in.
.
.
And just sigh it out.
Rest here.
Just be empty for a moment without rushing to fill it.
Recovery from burnout is not one big dramatic change.
It's a series of small permissions.
Permission to rest.
Permission to say no.
Permission to matter as much as everything and everyone you've been taking care of.
This was one of those permissions.
And come back to it as often as you need.
You are not a machine,
You're a human being and human beings need rest,
Beauty,
Stillness and care,
Starting with their own.
So much love,
Take care of yourself.
And I'll see you soon.
