Welcome to softening into what is.
This is a guided meditation.
I'm Sierra Campbell.
Thank you for trusting me as we go in this journey.
I suggest that you lie down in a way that allows your body to feel held by the earth.
Take your time.
Make a nest.
Settle in.
Allow your hands to rest softly.
Unclench everything,
Especially your jaw.
Let the tongue loosen and bring your awareness first to your mouth and your jaw and your face.
Close your eyes and remind yourself that there's nowhere else to be but right now,
Resting,
Allowing your body to be held by the earth.
Notice the breath exactly as it is.
No need to deepen it,
Improve it.
Just inhale and exhale.
Bring gentle awareness to your whole body.
Notice where pain may live in the body today.
Perhaps it feels sharp.
Perhaps it's dull.
Perhaps this pain moves,
Pulses,
Tightens or aches.
There's no need to name it perfectly.
Let's just acknowledge it.
Yes,
Pain.
You too are here.
I feel you.
I acknowledge you.
Instead of bracing against the sensation,
Let's soften one degree around it.
Not into the pain,
But around the pain.
Let's create some space at its edges.
Allow the breath to wash through the surrounding spaces and gently say to your beautiful aging body.
And I am still here.
Some days are harder than others.
And I do not and will not harden with it.
Notice the layers wrapped around this pain.
Fear,
Frustration,
Grief,
Anger,
Exhaustion.
These are natural companions to suffering.
Let's welcome them with honesty.
Place one hand where it comforts you the most.
Heart,
Stomach,
Cheek,
Shoulder.
Offer yourself the mercy you would offer someone you deeply love.
Whisper inwardly.
Beloved body,
I know you have carried so much.
Thank you for all you continue to do.
I am listening.
Let surrender be redefined right here,
Right now.
Surrender is not defeat.
It is the ending of argument with the moment.
Surrender is laying down the weapon of resistance.
Surrender is trusting that softness can hold what force cannot.
With the next inhale,
Release all that you can.
Release the demand that this should not be happening.
Release the timeline for healing,
Comparison,
And release all blame.
And if something cannot be released just yet,
Let that be true too.
There's no such thing as failing.
Even holding on can be met with compassion.
And let's rest deeply in acceptance.
Acceptance does not mean liking what is.
It means seeing clearly what is here,
What is now without turning away.
Say quietly.
This is the body I have today.
And this is the moment I have right now.
I meet it with kindness.
I meet this moment with courage.
I meet it with love.
Imagine each inhale gathering light.
White,
Gold,
Beautiful light.
And imagine each exhale carrying strain downward into the earth.
Every cell relaxing,
Surrendering into the earth.
Allowing all that has been gathered,
All that the body is holding,
Releasing,
Allowing it to be composted into wisdom,
Rising into the light.
Feel the graceful dignity of your own presence.
Feel the tenderness in staying.
Feel the strength you know so well that it takes to be gentle.
For a few breaths,
Just be in that beautiful space without a problem to solve.
There is no pain to conquer.
And there's no story to fix.
Just life breathing itself through you.
Just feel life breathing itself through you.
Softening into what is.
Knowing that you are whole,
Even in pain,
Even with some bruising.
You are whole in surrender.
You are strong.
And even in uncertainty,
You belong to this moment.
And this moment exactly as it is can be met with unconditional love.
Softening,
Softening into what is.
Feel the body heavy,
Supported by the earth.
Feel every cell connecting with every cell in the soil,
Every microbe,
Every mycorrhizae,
That beautiful web beneath the soil.
The mitochondria in your body and in the soils of the earth.
Feel that connection.
Feel that oneness with the cycles of nature,
The beauty of nature,
The sameness.
Feel once again the feeling of the tongue in the mouth,
The eyes relaxing into the center of the head.
Feel the inner body,
The inner ear,
Alive and awake.
Gently move the head side to side,
Continuing to keep the jaw relaxed.
Feel the breath ever so gently moving in through the nose and out.
On your next in-breath,
Move the wrists and lift the arms.
Maybe even have a nice yawn.
Feel the entire body waking up.
Roll the ankles.
Gently move the toes.
And continue as you move through your day,
Through life,
To soften into what is.
