Hey everyone,
Sarah here.
Today I wanted to talk about two very important words that pop into our heads.
Pretty often and maybe sometimes we don't even realize it's happening.
What if?
What do we think what if is fueled by?
There's two things I'm looking for right now.
The first one is beer.
Fear fuels the what ifs because fear has this crazy ability to make us feel like something in the future is already happening.
And there's my other word,
Future.
What ifs are not things that are happening right now in this present moment,
Right here with you and me?
Nope.
So let's take an example.
What if,
Here's a good one.
What if I forget what I'm saying on this video?
What if I appear to be an imposter?
What if I look silly?
That's a lot of what ifs.
But I have a three-pronged approach to handling those what-ifs.
We have our what ifs,
We heard them.
What now?
And win.
So,
All the what ifs.
Then.
What now?
What steps can I take right now so the things that I'm worried about don't actually happen?
My what now is practicing,
Practicing this video,
Practicing looking myself in the eye,
Practicing in a mirror.
And I talk about these things in session all the time,
So I know I know what I'm talking about.
But my last prong to my what if,
What now,
When is when.
So,
I recently started a wind journal.
Which has been really great.
I am a big follower of gratitude journaling,
And now my gratitude practice has transferred over into a win practice.
So it doesn't have to be big.
I mean,
I wrote a ton today in my wind journal,
But it was things that were winds for me.
Nothing crazy big.
I mean,
You can absolutely put huge accomplishments.
But it's the small things too.
Don't forget them.
Because when your self-esteem is not great,
Let's say you've got some tough criticism,
Maybe someone's upset with you,
Something that makes you feel less of you makes you feel bad.
Pull out your wind journal.
Go through it.
It helps build resilience and it helps build confidence.
So remember,
What if,
What now,
And when.
