Hello and welcome to this meditation on finding and shielding our inner peace.

Begin by finding a comfortable position in a quiet place.

This can be sitting or lying down,

Whatever feels most comfortable and relaxing to you.

Begin to let go of all the tension and worry of the day.

Close your eyes and begin to relax every part of your body.

Relax your eyes,

Your jaw,

Your shoulders.

Relax your arms and your hands.

Relax your abdomen,

Your hips and thighs all the way to your toes.

Begin to feel your body melting into your mat.

You are completely relaxed.

You can let go.

Imagine a warm,

Bright,

Sparkling light glowing at your feet.

Take a deep inhale and see that light growing and covering your body like a warm,

Peaceful blanket.

On your exhale,

Exhale all of that oxygen out and let go of the chaos,

Negativity and worry of your day.

You are safe and you are protected.

Take another deep inhale as you picture that light continuing over your head and down the back side of your body,

Returning to your feet.

You are completely enveloped by this warm,

Sparkling light.

Continue taking a couple more deep inhales,

Filling your whole body with oxygen and light,

And long exhales from the top of your head all the way to your toes.

Allow your breathing to return to normal as your body sinks farther into the mat.

Begin to imagine you are in a peaceful forest and a path appears in front of you.

This path is lined with trees and the most beautiful,

Sweet-smelling wildflowers.

The warm summer sun shimmers through the leaves.

You can hear a stream trickling by in the distance.

You can feel a warm,

Comforting breeze blow across your face,

Bringing with it the scent of adventure.

Where will this path lead you?

You are unsure,

But you feel safe,

Secure and excited to explore more.

You begin walking down the path,

Basking in the beauty around you,

Enjoying the tranquil sound of birds singing in the trees.

The path begins to open into a green,

Lush meadow,

And you find that as you step into this meadow,

You are transported to the place that brings you the most peace on earth.

Are you kayaking on a lake,

Enjoying dinner with friends,

Hammocking in the trees,

Hiking in the mountains,

Gardening in a greenhouse,

Sitting by the fire on a cozy winter night surrounded by your family?

Whatever peace looks and feels like to you,

You have arrived there.

You are completely at peace,

And nothing can disturb this peace.

You have no obligations or tasks that need to be completed,

You are exactly where you need to be.

You are completely free to let go in this space,

Let go and bask in this peace.

Before we return back to the meadow,

Picture grounding roots of a tree sprouting from your body.

These roots begin to travel down through the earth,

Growing through the many layers until they reach the earth's core.

It is a glowing ball of light,

And you attach your roots to this ball in whatever way feels right to you.

Maybe these roots wrap around the core,

Or maybe they simply touch the core.

When your roots have attached,

The light from the core begins to travel up through your roots,

Passing all the many layers of the earth until it reaches you.

The light then begins to fill your whole being,

You are glowing.

You are securely grounded to mother earth in the most peaceful of places.

Now picture a shield being placed around your whole body.

This shield is a defense against any and all things that seek to take away your inner peace.

This shield you can take with you when you leave your sacred space,

It will continue to remind you of the peace you feel now,

And the peace you have within you always.

You simply have to close your eyes and remember this place.

It is time to say farewell to our sacred,

Peaceful place,

Knowing we are grounded and shielded from those things that threaten to take away our tranquility.

Knowing also that we can return to this space when the world gets too heavy and chaotic.

We simply have to walk down that beautiful forest path and into the meadow where we will find our peaceful place,

Where our minds,

Hearts,

And spirits can heal.

Begin walking out of the meadow,

Down the path,

And back to your mat.

When you are ready,

Begin to increase your breathing,

Take a full inhale and a long exhale.

Slowly wiggle your fingers and toes,

Stretch your arms overhead,

Roll to one side and into the fetal position,

Stay here as long as you'd like.

And when you are ready,

Come to a seated position on your mat.

Open your eyes,

And as we close this meditation,

Remember each and every day to shield yourself against any and all things that seek to take away our peace.

Remembering to put our shield up so that no person or event can affect our emotions and therefore affect our inner peace.

Thank you so much for joining me.
