Hello Seekers!
Today I want to share with you a favorite passage from Scripture.
It is Isaiah 40 verse 31.
I'm going to share it with you in a modified form of
Lectio Divina.
But first I'll share a bit about why it matters to me.
Some of you
may know that this passage is a promise for those of us who wait on the Lord.
We
will gain new strength and we will be able to soar like eagles and run without
becoming weary and we'll be able to walk without fainting.
For me this promise
became very important when I was a child and had a brain tumor.
I was going
paralyzed on the right side of my body.
Through the grace of God I am healed but
at that time it was a very traumatic experience and I did not know then how
much I could soar or walk or run if ever and I certainly wondered if I could
again without being weary or fainting.
As you listen to this perhaps you also
know the experience of physical challenges or you might have other sorts
of concerns emotionally or spiritually that have you wondering about regaining
strength and being able to soar again.
I invite you to use this time to reflect
on what your challenge is in the context of what we are promised through
this scripture.
I will read the passage a few times pausing so we can reflect on
different parts that might bring meaning to us and inspiration from God.
But they
that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.
They shall mount up with
wings as eagles.
They shall run and not be weary and they shall walk and not
faint.
But they that wait.
Are you waiting or rushing?
Are you still and listening
or racing to solve your own problems?
What if you wait and listen?
But they
that wait upon the Lord.
Who are you waiting for?
Who are you waiting on?
Where
is your power from?
Is it from the Lord or something else?
But they that wait
upon the Lord shall renew their strength.
Do we want to go back to the strength we
had before or can we anticipate renewed and new strengths?
Do we expect to be
restored to our previous normal or might we anticipate other new and renewed
strengths in other areas coming forth?
But they that wait upon the Lord shall
renew their strength.
They shall mount up with wings as eagles.
In what ways
will you soar?
When we do soar as on wings of eagles we can also see
differently.
When we soar we can have a whole different perspective.
How will you
soar?
How will soaring help you see from a new vantage point?
But they that wait
upon the Lord shall renew their strength.
They shall mount up with wings as eagles.
They shall run and not be weary and they shall walk and not faint.
Are we running
or walking?
Sometimes life is a walk and sometimes life is a run.
Perhaps we
aren't physically doing either.
How can we listen to the expectations of pace?
When are we expected to walk?
When are we expected to run?
How do we trust that we
will not be weary or faint no matter the pace?
But they that wait upon the Lord
will renew their strength.
They shall mount up with wings as eagles.
They shall
run and not be weary and they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40 verse 31.
Thank
you for joining me in this meditation.
May you soar,
May you run,
May you walk,
May you not be weary.
Peace to you.
I invite you to continue to reflect on
these words and absorb what meaning the divine has in this for you and that you
will find the strength and soar once again.
