Hello and welcome to this meditation about letting go and releasing what no longer serves you.
I am Rashid Zahidi,
Creator and author of the Emojim Journal,
A journal and workbook for emotional awareness and for balancing your wheel of life.
Find a comfortable position,
Either seated or lying down.
Allow your spine to be gently upright,
Your body supported.
When you're ready,
Softly close your eyes.
Take a slow breath in through your nose and exhale gently through your mouth.
Again,
Inhale and release.
Let your breathing settle into a natural rhythm.
There is nothing you need to fix,
Nothing you need to solve,
Nothing you need to perform.
For these moments,
You are simply here.
Bring your attention to the top of your head and slowly scan downward.
Notice your forehead,
Your eyes,
Your jaw,
And allow any tension to soften.
Let your shoulders drop and clench your hands.
Relax your stomach.
Feel the weight of your body being supported.
The ground is holding you,
The chair is holding you,
Or the bed.
You are safe in this moment.
Now,
Gently bring to mind something you have been carrying.
It could be a memory,
A relationship,
A regret,
An expectation,
Or a version of yourself that no longer fits you.
You don't need to analyze it.
You don't need to judge it.
Simply notice it.
Notice how it feels in your body.
Where do you sense it?
In your chest?
Your throat?
Your stomach?
Let it be there without resistance.
You are not trying to push it away.
You are learning to hold it with awareness.
Begin to imagine your breath creating space.
As you inhale,
Imagine breathing gently around this experience.
As you exhale,
Imagine softening your grip.
Inhale.
Create space.
Exhale.
Let go and release.
You are not erasing the past.
You are loosening its hold on your present.
With every breath out,
Whisper silently,
I don't need to carry this anymore.
Now,
Picture yourself standing beside a calm river.
The water flows slowly,
Steadily,
Peacefully.
In your hands,
You are holding an object.
This object represents what you've been holding on to.
It might be heavy.
It might be fragile.
It might feel familiar.
Take a moment to notice it.
Thank it quietly for what it taught you,
For how it shaped you,
For the strength it helped you build.
When you're ready,
Gently place it into the water.
Watch as the current carries it away.
You don't force it.
You don't rush it.
You just allow it.
As it floats farther and farther,
Feel your hands become lighter.
Your chest becomes more open.
Your breath becomes easier.
Now,
Bring your attention back to yourself.
Notice the space where that weight once was.
Imagine this space filling with calm,
Clarity,
With self-respect,
With quiet confidence.
Feel your energy returning to you.
Feel your presence becoming whole again.
You can silently repeat,
I choose peace over attachment.
I choose growth over fear.
I choose myself.
Let these words settle deeply.
For the next few breaths,
Simply rest.
Not doing,
Not striving,
Not fixing,
Just being.
You are not defined by what you've lost or by what you have lost.
You are defined by what you're becoming.
Let yourself feel that truth.
Begin to bring awareness back to your body.
Feel your hands.
Feel your feet.
Feel your breath.
Gently wiggle your fingers and gently wiggle your toes.
When you're ready,
Slowly open your eyes.
Carry this sense of lightness with you.
And you can return to this practice anytime you feel weighed down.
Letting go is not weakness.
It is wisdom.
It is power.
Thank you.
