Hello,
I am Rashid Zahidi,
Creator and author of the Emojim Journal,
A journal and workbook for emotional awareness and for balancing your wheel of life.
Welcome to this meditation designed to help you sink into restful sleep.
Find your comfortable position in your bed,
Resting in a quiet space where you can fully relax.
Allow your body to settle,
Adjusting if needed,
And gently close your eyes.
Take a deep breath in and slowly exhale.
Another deep breath in and let go,
Releasing the weight of the day.
Tonight we will focus on releasing tension,
Quieting the mind and allowing your body to drift naturally into a state of deep restful sleep.
Bring your attention to your body,
Noticing any areas where you may be holding tension.
Take a deep breath and as you exhale,
Imagine a wave of relaxation washing over you.
Now gently scan your body from head to toe.
Now start with the forehead and the eyes,
Soften your forehead,
Release any tightness around your eyes.
Moving on to the jaw and the face,
And clench your jaw,
Let your lips rest gently apart.
Neck and shoulders now,
Feel your shoulders melt downward,
Let go of any tension.
Now allow your arms to rest heavily by your sides,
Fingers relaxed.
Now focusing on the chest and the abdomen,
With each breath,
Feel your chest rise and fall,
Releasing any tightness in your belly.
Now let your legs feel heavy,
Let your feet sink into the surface beneath you.
With each exhale,
Allow your entire body to become softer,
Heavier,
More relaxed.
Let it just sink into the bed and be supported by the bed,
You don't need to support anything yourself.
Now bring awareness to your thoughts.
If your mind is busy,
Imagine each thought as a cloud drifting across the sky,
Simply passing by,
Without needing to hold on to it.
If a thought appears,
Acknowledge it gently,
Then let it float away,
Making space for stillness.
With each breath,
Imagine your thoughts slowing down,
Like ripples on a pond settling into still waters.
Repeat to yourself silently,
I allow my mind to rest,
I release the day,
I welcome deep sleep.
Now imagine yourself in a peaceful place,
A safe,
Quiet space where you feel completely at ease.
Perhaps a gentle night sky filled with soft,
Glowing stars,
Or a warm,
Cozy cabin as rain softly falls outside.
Whatever scene feels most calming to you,
Let yourself fully step into it,
As you step into a movie,
As you are the main character in that movie and in that scene.
Feel the comfort of this space,
The stillness,
The ease,
As if the entire world is slowing down around you.
Allow your breath to follow this rhythm,
Deep,
Slow,
Effortless.
Inhale,
Feel the pace and the peace,
Feel the pace of your breath and the peace that you feel,
And exhale and surrender.
You are safe,
You are supported,
Sleep is coming naturally.
Now there is nothing left to do,
No need to try,
No need to hold on,
Just allow yourself to be.
Your body knows how to sleep,
Your mind knows how to rest,
Let go,
Surrender,
Drift,
Sleep is here.
There is nothing left to do,
No need to try,
No need to hold on,
Just allow yourself to be.
Your body knows how to sleep,
Your mind knows how to rest,
Let go,
Surrender,
Drift,
Sleep is here.
