Welcome.
This short practice is here for those moments when you feel scattered,
Overwhelmed,
Distracted,
Or just a little far away from yourself.
You don't need anything to go away.
We're simply going to give your attention somewhere to land.
Begin by finding a position that feels reasonably comfortable.
You might be sitting in a chair,
Standing,
Lying down,
Or resting somewhere supported.
And if it feels okay,
Keep your eyes open for now.
Take a moment to look around the space you're in.
There's no need to search for anything special.
Just let your eyes move slowly around the room.
Notice a color,
A shape.
Perhaps where the light is coming from.
Notice something close to you and something a little further away.
See if there's one object your eyes naturally want to rest on.
It doesn't have to make you feel calm.
Neutral is enough.
Just notice,
I'm here,
In this room,
In this moment.
Now bring some attention to where your body is being supported.
If you're sitting,
Feel the chair underneath you.
If you're lying down,
Notice the surface beneath your body.
If you're standing,
Notice the floor beneath your feet.
You don't need to feel your whole body.
Just notice one point of contact.
Maybe it's your feet.
You're back.
Your hands.
Or the weight of your body against the surface underneath you.
If your feet are on the floor.
You might gently press them down.
Not hard.
Just enough to notice the contact,
And then release.
Press again.
And release.
Or if your feet aren't available to you right now,
Gently press your hands together.
Or let one hand rest against your leg,
Your chair,
Or another supportive surface.
Notice the pressure.
Notice the contact.
Now let your breathing do whatever it's already doing.
You don't need to take a big breath.
You don't need to breathe deeply.
Just notice one inhale.
And one,
Exhale.
If it feels comfortable,
Allow the next exhale to last just a little longer.
Nothing dramatic.
An easy inhale.
And a slightly slower exhale.
And again.
Easy inhale.
Easy,
Unhurried exhale.
If changing your breathing doesn't feel good today.
Simply let it return to its natural rhythm.
Now notice one thing that feels neutral,
Steady,
Or supportive.
Maybe it's the floor beneath you.
The chair.
The temperature of the room.
A familiar object.
The sound of my voice.
Or simply the fact that you're taking a moment to pause.
You don't have to convince yourself that everything is okay.
You're just noticing one thing that feels manageable enough right now.
Take one more look around your space.
Feel one point of contact underneath you.
Notice one natural breath.
And check in.
Not am I calm now,
But did anything shift?
Maybe you feel slightly more present.
Maybe your thoughts slowed down a little.
Maybe nothing obvious changed.
All of that is okay.
You don't have to solve everything right now.
For this moment,
You're simply giving your nervous system somewhere to land.
Stay here as long as you'd like.
And when you're ready,
Gently return to whatever comes next.
