Welcome.
This practice is for moments when you feel flat.
Heavy,
Disconnected,
Numb,
Stuck,
Or like getting started feels unusually difficult.
We're not going to force energy today.
We're going to invite a little movement and a little more contact with the world around you.
If possible,
Let your eyes stay open.
You don't need to go deeply inward right now.
Begin by looking around the room.
Let your head move a little if it feels comfortable.
Notice where the light is.
Notice a color,
A shape,
Something with texture,
Something that catches your attention.
Maybe look toward a window or toward the brightest part of the room.
Let yourself notice,
There is a world around me.
Now begin moving your fingers.
Nothing big,
Just wiggle them.
Maybe rub your thumb against each fingertip.
Notice the texture of your own skin.
Now move your toes if that's available.
Perhaps circle your ankles or gently move your feet.
If your feet are on the floor,
Press them down.
Feel the muscles in your legs engage just a little and release.
Again,
Press and release.
One more time.
Press and release.
If it feels accessible,
Begin a small sway,
Side to side or front to back.
There's no right rhythm.
See whether your body wants the movement to become slightly bigger or maybe smaller.
Now begin moving your arms.
Perhaps roll your shoulders.
Reach your arms forward and bring them back.
Or lift your arms a little and let them come down.
You might gently shake out your hands.
Maybe your arms.
Nothing intense.
Just enough movement to remind the body I can move.
If you're able and it feels supportive,
You could stand or stay exactly where you are.
If standing feels good,
Gently shift your weight from one foot to another.
Maybe take a few slow steps.
If you're seated,
You can march your feet lightly or continue rocking.
Now see if sound feels available.
You might hum or sigh or simply make a soft mm sound.
Take an easy breath in.
And exhale with the gentle mm.
Again if you'd like.
Take an easy breath in.
And exhale with a gentle mmm.
Notice the vibration.
Notice the sound entering the space around you.
Now look around again.
Notice three things you can see.
Notice one sound.
Feel one place your body is making contact with something solid.
And now ask,
What is one small thing I could do next?
Not a whole list,
Not everything you've been putting off,
Just one thing.
Maybe stand up.
Drink some water.
Open a curtain.
Step outside.
Put on some music.
Eat something.
Take a shower.
Text someone.
Move into another room,
Or simply sit here for another minute.
Let the next step be small enough that it feels possible.
You don't need to suddenly feel energized.
We're simply offering your system a little movement,
A little connection,
And a little more choice.
Notice whether you feel even slightly more here than when we began.
And when you're ready,
Choose your one small next step.
