6 Tips to Maintain Your Mindfulness Practice 1.
If you find yourself hesitating before starting or avoiding a practice,
Just begin by listening to the words and the guidance.
Often enough,
A temptation to follow the guidance by practicing comes next.
2.
If your mind is wandering a lot,
Simply note the thoughts,
As passing events,
And then bring the mind gently back to the guidance or your intended focus.
3.
As best you can,
Remember that mindfulness is not about success,
Failure,
Doing it really well,
Or trying to purify the body.
This is not a competition.
It is not a skill you need to strive for.
The only discipline involved is regular and frequent practice.
Do it with an attitude of openness and curiosity.
4.
Be curious.
Trying to concentrate on your senses,
The breath,
Or anything else can be difficult and boring.
Controlling and forcing it is not the way to go.
This just leaves you exhausted and frustrated within a couple of minutes.
You see,
Our mind rewards us via tiny amounts of dopamine when we learn something new.
So be curious to what you think,
How you think,
What you sense,
Observe,
Discover,
See what new things you can learn about yourself in your practice moments.
5.
Try to practice a little bit every day.
It's like watering a plant,
A little bit of practice every day is much better than doing a whole bucketful once a month.
6.
As best you can,
Approach your experience in each moment with the kindly attitude.
Okay,
That's just the way things are right now,
For example.
If you try to fight off on pleasant thoughts,
Feelings,
Or body sensations,
They will only distract you from doing anything else.
These are your experiences in the moment,
Just be aware of them.
Thank you so much for listening to the six tips to maintain your mindfulness practice.
Have fun,
Be curious,
And practice.
