When did you last let your heart decide?
Beneath the voices that circle in doubt,
There is a heart resting in still waters,
Waiting to reflect who you really are underneath the heavy robes of identity.
Beneath the alluring pull of this world,
There is a heart dwelling in sure knowing,
Waiting for you to enter its luminous field so you can find glimmers of what is true.
When did you last let your heart decide?
Dear friends,
I have been sitting tenderly with this question,
Turning it over and over and wrestling with its discomfort.
In recent months,
It has become clearer and clearer that there are many ways in which I have wandered away from myself.
Many ways that I have abandoned my own quiet knowing,
Sometimes subtle and sometimes in ways that were hidden to begin with.
And in this time of reckoning with myself,
I have also been gifted moments of being able to glimpse the absolute intelligence and forgiveness of the heart.
Its power,
Its potency of what it knows,
Of what it keeps safe for us and what it begins to slowly reveal when we put our attention towards it.
The heart is the home of our deepest longings and it is a gateway to deeper secrets about our divine,
Pure essence.
The heart remains untouched by the mind of conditioning and of becoming in a world that often asks us to erase or tamper with so much of who we are.
And when we dare to ask ourselves the questions that truly matter,
About what we really want and what we truly yearn for,
Only the heart can answer these questions because only the heart knows both what we are made of and what we are made for.
So when did you last let your heart decide?
In today's meditation,
I invite you to bear witness to the voice of the heart,
To welcome its intelligence and to welcome its guidance for whatever it is in your life that feels uncertain or that requires its wisdom.
Let's begin.
I invite you now to find a place of comfort wherever it may be,
Whether it's lying down or sitting down.
Any place that feels relaxing and comforting.
I invite you to begin to turn your attention inwards into your inner landscape and to begin to sense the rhythm of your natural breath.
I want to bring this question that we have been exploring,
That I have been wrestling with.
When did you last let your heart decide?
I want to invite you to explore what your heart is asking of you now and what your heart would like to say.
What your heart is asking of you now and what your heart would like to say.
Notice what is present there.
You may begin to sense into feelings that are arising.
There may be something that feels like longing or an ache you haven't quite named yet.
Whatever is there,
Simply let it be there.
You may find it helpful to begin an intimate dialogue with your heart.
Speaking to the heart.
What are you asking of me now?
What would you like to say?
The heart speaks gently,
Speaks quietly.
Sometimes in images,
Sometimes in a feeling that arrives before words.
Sometimes a sudden clarity that surprises you with its simplicity.
And sometimes in tears that have no particular reason.
Whatever comes,
Be open to receiving it.
If nothing comes,
The silence is also the heart speaking with its presence.
Resting in sure knowing.
Dear friends,
It takes tremendous courage to let the heart move you.
It takes tremendous courage to be guided by what is often given as a feeling,
As an intuition,
As a leaning toward.
And it requires us to trust and to be brave enough to listen.
To take action.
And to know that there is something deeper that knows who we are.
That has always known who we are.
And that remains a source of guidance.
Pure guidance.
Thank you for being here with me today.
