Hey,
It's Michelle at Counseling Recovery,
And I want to show you a really cool technique called tapping.
It's also known as the emotional freedom technique,
And it's a combination of Chinese acupuncture and modern psychology,
And it's been around a really long time,
But it's really effective for physical pain,
Emotional pain,
Trauma.
Anytime you're feeling at all off or imbalanced or stressed,
It helps you get back to your center,
And it really works It works really quickly.
I've done it several times in my life.
Whenever I'm upset,
Whenever I'm really feeling off and I need to get back to center quickly,
I will use this.
So what it is,
Is you're basically telling yourself what you're upset about,
You're saying it out loud,
As you're doing a series of taps.
And I'll show you the series of taps,
But when I do it,
I just basically start talking.
I'm really upset,
This person hurt my feelings,
I'm really frustrated right now.
I'll just let myself keep talking,
And then what I'll do is I'll add this phrase,
And I completely love and accept myself.
And you're gonna add that to your sentences as you're doing the tapping okay and I'm going to show you what that looks like but first I'm going to show you the series of tappings okay so it's the side of your hand and you're going to be tapping like this and they say to count seven times but I don't count I just do it you know until I go on to the next one.
So maybe seven to ten but don't get caught up in the counting of it.
Then you tap in between the eyes right at the edge of the eyebrow.
And then right outside the eyebrow,
Right?
And then you're going underneath the eye.
Underneath the nose.
In the crevice of the chin.
Right below your ear.
What's this bone called?
I don't know what this bone is called,
But right underneath it.
Collarbone,
I guess.
And then for women,
Where the bra strap hits you on the side,
You're going to tap there.
And then the last tap.
Is on your head.
Right there.
And then what you're gonna do is you're gonna take a breath.
So what this looks like is you're going to do something like this.
I'm really upset today,
I had an awful day,
My husband yelled at me,
And I'm feeling really bad about myself.
And I completely love and accept myself.
And I will continue to talk about my upset.
As I'm doing the tapping,
And I completely love and accept myself.
I will keep talking about what's upsetting me no matter what it is,
And I don't judge myself,
And I don't censor myself.
I just keep talking.
And again,
Every little bit,
I will say,
And I completely love and accept myself.
And usually by the end of it,
Almost always by the end of it actually,
I feel better.
And you just.
You take a cleansing breath.
And then sometimes what happens is that you will actually get more emotional about the topic.
And that's okay.
That's your body's way of releasing the emotion and getting deeper.
So this doesn't mean that you're going to take a 20 year old trauma and resolve it in five seconds.
That's not what this is about,
But this is going to loosen that energy for you so that you can get some relief in the moment.
Because when we're upset or when we're really stressed or afraid,
Our bodies tighten up,
Right?
And we get that muscle tension.
And we can't seem to get out of that.
Our body gets locked.
And what the tapping does is it just unlocks that pressure.
It's so cool.
I can't tell you how much I love this technique.
And I hope this helps you.
This is such a cool technique.
I really,
Really want you to start trying it.
And what I want you to do is really,
I'm gonna challenge you to try it right now.
Take one thing that you're feeling,
One thing that you're struggling with,
Yourself out loud as you're tapping and again you're going to include the phrase and I completely love and accept myself at least three or four times as you're doing the tapping okay All right,
I wanna hear how it goes.
Leave it in the comments and I'll respond.
Okay,
Bye.
