This was an excellent talk with many straightforward suggestions for solutions to help you on your quest to do this. I have so much trouble because I care so much and don't want to see my friends and loved ones suffer. But at the same time, I know I need to stay out of it amd let them handle their own lives. Your viewpoints helped me tonight on how not to let it hurt my heart so much that I mo longer help (years ago I was absolutely a rescuers but now I want no part of doing that even though my sensitive heart pains me so much to see others struggle). I'm learning to let that go without feeling like a horrible human being for "standing by and letting others struggle and suffer direly." I have to let them live though. Let them work through it. Excellent presentation☀️✨️😊!

Very good. I like the specific examples. My question is what about when the person you need to emotionally detach from is an elderly parent? My mom is 82, lives alone, and is mentally sound—but consistently neglects her health in the most basic ways. She’s from a generation that never asks for help. I’m interested to hear if your advice is more nuanced for those situations when we question one’s ability to “steer their own life.” Thank you!

Excellent advice. I just would have liked to hear examples of spiritual boundaries aa that term is new to me. Otherwise, I am now a fan/follower.
