Welcome dear one,
I'm Megan and together we will ground into sensation with this somatic walking meditation.
A note,
Please make sure that you have a space to walk that you are able to safely walk while having your attention turned slightly inward.
A living room,
Backyard,
Driveway or hallway would be best.
Or any other place that is low of distraction.
This practice is a chance to slow down,
To move with presence and curiosity and to let each step guide you back to yourself.
We spend so much of our lives rushing forward,
Barely noticing the ground beneath our feet.
Today we'll practice walking in a new way.
One that invites you to notice,
To feel,
And to connect.
As we move together,
There is nothing to fix or perfect.
This is simply about being here in this moment and allowing your body to show you what it needs Before we begin,
Take a moment to make yourself comfortable.
Notice anything that might help you feel more supported adjusting your shoes,
Loosening your shoulders,
Or even taking a few slow breaths before we start.
Feel free to pause the meditation and come back when you feel fully resourced.
When you're ready,
We'll begin by standing still and simply arriving.
Letting this practice unfold step by step with gentleness,
Curiosity,
And care.
This practice is about walking slowly with presence and allowing each step to guide you deeper into your body in the moment.
Begin by standing still for a moment before you start walking.
Let your arms rest gently by your sides or wherever they feel most comfortable.
Take a slow deep breath in.
And a long steady exhale out.
Softly say to yourself,
I am here.
I am grounded.
I am ready to walk with awareness.
Before you move,
Take a moment to look around.
Notice what's around you.
The colors,
Shapes,
And lights.
Feel the temperature of the air on your skin.
Listen for the quiet sounds in the environment.
Maybe you hear birds,
The wind,
Or a distant hum of life.
This simple act of noticing helps your nervous system settle and let your body know it's safe to arrive here.
Now bring your attention to the soles of your feet.
Notice where they connect with the ground beneath you.
Take a moment to shift your weight slowly forward and back side to side like you're exploring how the earth holds you up.
Imagine roots gently growing from the bottoms of your feet down into the earth,
Strong and steady.
Whisper softly in your mind,
I am supported.
The earth holds me.
Start walking very slowly,
Almost in slow motion at first Feel every part of your steps.
Notice your heel touching down.
Anchoring into this first point of connection Feeling the smooth shift of weight as your foot rolls forward.
Feeling your toes press off the ground.
And releasing as the foot lifts Each step is like a wave flowing through you.
Stay curious about every little sensation.
The pressure,
Texture,
Warmth.
Or coolness beneath your feet Stay in this slow walk for a few moments,
Still feeling every part of your step.
As you walk now,
You can quicken the pace to your normal walking pace Broaden your attention beyond your feet.
Notice the gentle swing of your arms.
The way your breath naturally rises and falls.
The temperature of the air on your skin.
The sound of your footsteps meeting the earth.
Let your awareness move like a soft spotlight,
Exploring sensations without needing to judge or change them.
If your mind begins to wander,
Simply bring your focus back to your feet.
Step,
Breathe,
Feel.
Step.
Breathe.
Feel.
As you continue walking,
Connect breath to your movement.
Inhaling as you lift one foot and take a step forward Exhale as the other foot follows and settles into the earth Inhale,
Lift one foot,
Step forward,
Exhale,
The other foot follows and settles into the earth Let the rhythm of breath and steps become a gentle anchor keeping you rooted in the present.
Imagine each exhale releasing tension into the ground Each inhale draws in stability and calm.
Staying here for a few moments,
Connecting your breath to your steps.
Now,
Pause for a moment.
Place your hands gently on your thighs or over your belly.
Feel your breath move beneath your hands.
Notice the warmth of your own touch A reminder that you are safe and present in your body Take one deep grounding breath here before continuing your walk.
Staying here for a few minutes.
Mindfully walking.
Keeping your steps connected to your breath.
You when you are ready to end the meditation Gradually slow your pace until you come to stillness.
Stand quietly,
Feeling the solid ground beneath your feet.
Take a moment to notice how your body feels now compared to when you began.
Notice the sensations in your feet,
Legs and spine the steadiness in your breath and mind If it feels good to you,
Softly whisper to yourself.
I am here.
I am rooted.
I am connected.
Carry this grounded awareness with you into the rest of your day knowing that you can return to this practice anytime you need to feel centered and steady Thank you for joining me today.
