This is a difficult topic to address,
But one that truly serves me and you.
Make some space and time for this meditation and return to when you,
Me including,
Need a healthy reminder on loneliness.
Is not the obvious kind of lonely.
You're not isolated.
You have people around you.
Maybe a partner,
Friends,
A job where you talk to people every day.
But there's a version of loneliness that lives inside a full life.
A quiet sense that even in the room,
You're not quite in the room.
That the real you hasn't shown up somewhere in a long time.
Most men don't call it loneliness.
They call it nothing.
They just keep moving.
Today we're going to stop and actually name it.
The real you hasn't shown up somewhere in a long time.
Let's settle in first.
Feet on the floor,
Hands resting easy.
Let yourself actually land somewhere for a moment.
Slow breath in through the nose,
Let it drop all the way down.
Long and complete.
Notice if there's a kind of emptiness or flatness somewhere in your chest right now,
Not pain,
Just a hollow quality.
One more breath,
In.
I'm out!
You don't need to feel that space right now.
Just let yourself feel that it's there.
Think about the last time you were in a group of people.
And still felt somehow separate from it.
Not unfriendly,
Not even unhappy necessarily,
Just a step removed,
Watching from a slight distance.
Let that moment come to mind.
What does that kind of disconnection feel like in your body right now?
Stay there for a moment.
There's probably a familiar quality to it.
Like you've been here before.
Like it's just become the background noise of your life.
Loneliness gets normalized slowly.
At first it's uncomfortable,
You notice it.
But after a while,
If you don't address it,
It just becomes part of the furniture.
Something you live around,
Not with.
And the harder part is this.
Normalized loneliness doesn't look like loneliness from the outside.
You're functioning.
You're present enough.
Nobody would guess.
When did you first start feeling this kind of disconnection and just decide to carry it rather than say anything about it?
Take your time.
And is there anyone in your life right now who actually knows what's going on inside you?
Here's what I want you to hold on to.
Loneliness isn't a character flaw,
It's a signal.
Is telling you that something in you wants to be known and hasn't been,
Not fully,
Not lately.
You can't fix that tonight.
But you can stop pretending it isn't there.
Naming it,
Honestly,
Even just to yourself,
Is the first thing that actually makes a difference.
You're not broken,
You're just under-connected and that's something that can change.
One final breath in.
And out.
Completely.
Feel the ground beneath you.
Steady,
Present.
You name something today that most men never do,
That matters.
Take your time coming back.
Good work.
Here you have the ability to uncover where this loneliness derived from.
It's in this seminal spaces where you need to act before the regular heartbeat of your life continues.
Please feel no pressure to reach out,
But I can tell you,
I'd be honored to witness your being and becoming.
