You've achieved things,
Maybe a lot of things.
And yet there's this feeling that doesn't go away,
That it's not enough,
That you're not there yet,
That the next goal,
The next milestone,
Will be the one that finally settles something.
But it never quite does.
What if the drive,
The relentless forward motion,
Isn't just ambition.
What if some of it is running?
That's what we're going to sit with today.
Before we go anywhere,
Let's stop moving for a moment.
That itself might feel uncomfortable.
If it does,
Just notice that.
Feet on the floor,
Hands resting somewhere easy.
Let your body settle into wherever you are.
Slow breath in through the nose,
All the way down into the belly.
And out.
Long and slow.
One more.
And out.
Feel the weight of your body,
The stillness underneath all the doing.
Just for now.
Nowhere to get to.
Nothing to achieve.
Notice what's here when the doing stops.
Is there restlessness?
A pull to check something,
Do something,
Plan something.
Just notice that impulse without following it.
Underneath the restlessness.
If you stay with it a little longer.
What else is there?
What does it feel like in your body when you stop moving?
And there's nothing immediately in front of you to focus on.
Stay with that.
Don't explain it.
Don't fix it.
Just feel what's actually there.
Ambition isn't the problem.
Wanting things,
Building things,
Moving towards something,
That's not what we're questioning.
What's worth looking at is the fuel.
Because there are two kinds of drive.
There's the kind that moves towards something real.
Something you genuinely want.
That comes from inside you.
And there's the kind that's moving away from something.
Away from feeling not enough.
Away from the quiet that gets uncomfortable.
Away from a version of yourself you don't want to sit with.
When you slow down enough to be honest,
How much of what you're chasing is something you genuinely want?
And how much is something you're trying to outrun?
Don't answer that too quickly.
What is it,
Underneath all the achieving,
That you're most afraid to feel?
Here's what I want you to hold on to.
Drive rooted in fear doesn't stop when you succeed.
It just raises the bar.
Because the thing it's running from never gets addressed.
But drive rooted in something real.
Something you actually value.
Something that matters to you.
That's sustainable.
That doesn't hollow you out.
You don't need to tear down everything you're building.
You just need to know why you're building it.
That question are honestly answered.
Changes everything.
One final breath in.
And out.
All the way.
Feel the ground beneath you,
Still here,
Still steady.
The ambition doesn't have to go anywhere.
But now,
You know a little more about where it comes from.
That's enough for today.
Take your time coming back into the room.
Shadow work is essential to understanding a deeper layer of yourself.
When you can hold space for all parts of yourself,
You will have the ability to do so for others.
You become the grounding rod for those around you.
The funny thing about life,
You have to step towards the shadows to find the light.
