Welcome to this practice,
A practice of presence.
This is a meditation you can return to at any time of the day,
Whenever you feel the need to slow down,
To reconnect and to come back to the present moment.
Let this be a practice you can return to again and again as needed.
Find a comfortable position,
Either seated or lying down,
Somewhere you can be still,
Even just for a few moments.
Allow this to be a small pocket of time that is just for you.
A moment to pause before your day continues.
Now,
If they aren't already closed,
Gently close your eyes.
Take a slow breath in through your nose,
Feel your belly expand,
Ribcage,
Chest,
And then exhale softly out your mouth.
Again,
Inhale deeply,
Filling up the lungs and exhale completely,
Letting go of any urgency to get on with the day or to move on.
Let your breath return to its own natural rhythm,
Not changing it,
Just noticing it.
Bring your attention into your body.
Notice the points of contact that your body makes with the surface beneath you,
Feeling the weight of you,
The steadiness of you.
Soften your shoulders,
Relax your jaw,
Soften the space between the eyebrows,
And feel your body relaxed.
You can gently begin to flicker your eyes open,
Just keeping a soft gaze,
Noticing how the light enters through the eyes,
Noticing the colors,
The shapes,
The subtle movement around you,
And let your eyes land on something in your space.
Notice the details,
The textures,
The colors,
The way the light meets it.
Let yourself really see it,
As if for the very first time.
Now,
Slowly begin to widen your awareness.
Notice what's around you,
The space,
The quiet presence of everything that shares this moment with you.
No labeling,
No judging,
Just noticing.
Take a slow breath in,
And a long breath out.
Keeping your eyes gently open,
Or closing them if you like.
Sit for a moment in the quiet,
Feeling your breath,
Feeling your body,
Feeling the simplicity of being here.
And as you move back into your day,
Carry this with you,
The practice of slowing down,
The practice of noticing,
The practice of presence.
There is so much life,
Even in the most ordinary moments.
Take one more deep breath in,
And a full grounding exhale out.
Take as much time as you need,
And when you're ready,
Gently open your eyes.
Thank you so much for sharing this practice with me today.
Namaste.
