Today we will begin with the breath,
The most familiar object of meditation.
There is no need to breathe in any special way.
Simply allow your breath to be exactly as it is.
Please notice the inhale.
Now notice the exhale.
Perhaps you feel the breath most clearly at the nostrils.
On the chest.
Maybe in the belly.
Choose the place where the breath feels most vivid and simply observe it.
If your attention wanders,
That's completely normal.
That's simply what the mind does.
Please gently return to the next breath.
Once again,
Please notice the inhale.
And exhale.
Spend a few more moments simply resting with your breath.
Now take a slightly deeper breath in.
And slowly breathe out.
Every time you noticed your mind had wandered and gently came back,
You were strengthening your attention.
