Hi,
My name is Judy Pazos and I am a therapist and coach located in Miami,
Florida,
And I want to welcome you to this short body scan.
I encounter people every day that don't really feel safe relaxing into their bodies.
So many of us don't actually know how to relax in our bodies.
Maybe rest and relaxation has never felt safe.
Maybe you've carried guilt when you slow down or maybe your plate is just so full that your body stays in a constant go mode.
The body scan is a gentle way to begin reconnecting with yourself by simply noticing and softening each part of your body.
You start to teach your nervous system,
Little by little,
That it is safe to let go,
Even if just for a few moments.
This practice is about giving yourself permission to pause,
To release tension,
And to feel supported in your own body.
There's no right or wrong way to do it.
It's just noticing,
Breathing,
And allowing.
And when you feel ready,
Let's begin by finding a truly comfortable position by lying down or staying seated with lots of support,
Completely supported by pillows,
Blankets.
Let's begin by taking a deep breath in.
Open the mouth and just letting go.
Again,
Another deep breath in.
Open the mouth,
Letting it all go.
Ah.
One last time,
A deep breath in,
Filling all the way to the top of the head.
Open the mouth,
Releasing,
Letting it all go.
Allowing the body to land.
Now,
We will gently bring awareness through different points of the body.
There's no need to force or create.
Just simply following along,
Noticing each point of the body,
As I name it.
Just going to bring awareness to the space between your eyebrows,
The mind's eye.
The base of your throat,
The right shoulder,
Elbow,
Wrist,
Thumb,
First finger,
Second finger,
Third finger,
Fourth finger,
Palm of the hand,
Right wrist,
Elbow,
Shoulder,
The back of the throat,
Palm of the hand,
Heart space center,
Left shoulder,
Elbow,
Wrist,
Thumb,
First finger,
Second finger,
Third finger,
Fourth finger,
Palm of the hand,
Top of the hand,
Wrist,
Elbow,
Left shoulder,
The back of the throat,
The center of the chest,
Heart center,
The right side of the chest,
The left side of the chest,
Back of the throat,
Returning to the mind's eye center.
Resting here,
Body soft,
Body at ease.
Now simply allow yourself to just be,
To just be here now,
At ease.
Take a deep breath in,
Slowly letting it go,
And bring your full awareness back into the space around you.
Just taking notice of how your body feels now,
Compared to when you started,
Even a few moments of softening can make a large difference.

For giving your body permission to rest and receive.
