Hello and welcome to Ablaze.

Today's practice,

We're going to be doing a driving meditation.

Being able to find gratitude and appreciation in everyday moments that we sometimes and often overlook.

So obviously,

For this practice,

I want you to keep your eyes open,

Hands steady on the wheel,

Have your body be upright and alert.

Start to notice the contact points between your body and the car.

Your feet on the floor.

Take a slow breath in through your nose and a calm breath out through your mouth.

Nothing changes about how you drive.

You are simply adding awareness.

Today we're going to set our hearts ablaze to gratitude for the small things.

Finding appreciation in the everyday moments we usually overlook.

This is not about zoning out.

It's about tuning in.

Notice the simple act of driving.

The hum of the engine.

The feel of the steering wheel beneath your hands.

The subtle movement of the car responding to your touch.

You've done this a thousand times and yet,

Right now,

This moment is new.

Notice the light outside,

The sky,

The movement of other cars.

Nothing extraordinary,

Just ordinary life happening.

Bring your awareness to something small in your environment.

Maybe it's the way sunlight reflects off another vehicle.

The rhythm of your turn signal.

Maybe the lines painted on the road,

Or maybe trees passing in your peripheral vision.

These details are always here,

But rarely noticed.

Gratitude doesn't require something dramatic.

It simply begins with noticing.

Silently say to yourself,

This moment,

Right here,

Is enough.

Now expand your appreciation.

Notice the road itself.

Someone designed it,

Measured it,

Paved it,

Traffic systems,

Signals,

Bridges,

Signs.

An entire network exists so you can move safely from one place to another.

Most days,

It feels automatic,

But it isn't.

Think about the sheer time and energy and the amount of people that it took to carefully design a universal system to allow you to move freely.

Notice how much effort exists behind your ordinary morning.

Now gently bring your awareness to yourself without losing awareness of the road.

Notice your hands on the wheel.

Your eyes adjusting to the distance and light.

Your feet responding without conscious thought.

Your body is constantly working for you.

Breathing.

Processing.

Responding.

You don't have to micromanage any of it.

Appreciate that.

Not because it's perfect,

But because it functions.

Gratitude for the body you move through the world in.

As you pass other cars,

Remember.

Each one contains a life.

Someone heading to work.

Someone thinking about their family.

Someone carrying stress.

Someone carrying hope.

We move past each other constantly without seeing each other fully.

Let this awareness soften you.

Not distracted.

Just aware.

You are a part of something larger than your daily to-do list.

Now think about where you are going.

Not the tasks.

Just the opportunity.

Another day to move.

To breathe.

To build.

To learn.

There were once days you hoped for the life you now consider normal.

Let that sink in.

Gratitude isn't about exaggeration.

It's about remembering.

Now start to return fully to the road.

Feel the steering wheel.

Notice the movement of traffic.

Take one deep inhale through your nose.

And one calm,

Full exhale out your mouth.

Gratitude doesn't require extra time.

It requires attention.

The small things were always here.

Today,

You simply chose to see them.

Continue driving safely.

Present.

And aware.

Your heart is quietly ablaze.

Even in the ordinary.

Have a great day.
