Hello.
Welcome to Ablaze Mental Training.
Today,
We are setting our hearts ablaze to visualization and training our mind's eye once again.
Not just imagining,
But learning how to train your visualization and imagination with intention.
So let's settle in,
Find a comfortable spot for you,
And start by taking a slow breath in through your nose.
And as we exhale through our mouth,
Just emptying our lungs fully.
Again,
Take a slow inhale and a full exhale through our mouth,
Letting those shoulders relax.
Let your body become still so we can focus on the mind.
Notice the natural rhythm of your breath.
Every piece through the inhale,
The slight pause at the top,
And the exhale through your mouth.
Just allow your mind to settle,
Not forcing anything,
And just becoming present.
In a previous episode,
We began to understand how the brain imagines.
Today,
We begin to train it.
If this is your first Ablaze episode,
I highly recommend going to our first visualization episode called How Your Brain Imagines and How to Train It.
It gives a little bit more background on what our brain is actually doing while we're visualizing and imagining,
How it works,
And how we're going to train it in the future.
I want you to start by bringing your awareness inward.
Begin to notice how your mind naturally experiences things.
Some people see clear images,
Some feel sensations,
Some experience emotion first,
And some hear internal dialogue.
Once again,
There is no right way,
Only your way.
I want you to gently bring to mind a simple object,
Something very familiar to you.
Maybe it's a cup,
A book,
A ball.
Notice what appears first.
Is it a feeling or a sense of knowing?
That first sense that comes up for you,
That is the strongest,
Is your dominant doorway into imagery.
Now,
I want you to stay with that object that came to your mind.
Begin to deepen your experience of it.
If you see it,
Notice the details.
The color,
The shape,
The texture.
If you feel it,
Notice the weight,
The temperature,
Maybe how it sits in your hand.
If you hear or sense the object you pick,
Notice the subtle qualities,
The presence of it.
You are not trying to force clarity.
We're just simply strengthening connection using your doorway.
Now,
I want you to begin to expand on your dominant doorway.
I want you to gently layer in another sense.
If you started with visuals,
I want you to imagine holding the object and feeling it.
If you started with sensation,
Try and begin to see that object more clearly.
If you started with emotion or knowing,
I want you to try and layer in shape or texture of the object.
This is where imagery becomes more powerful.
Not just one sense,
But multiple layers and activating as many parts of your brain as we can.
Once you begin to successfully add multiple layers,
Your brain begins to treat this as a real experience.
For example,
If you were to have chosen a food,
Let's say a lemon.
If you were to visualize the process of seeing a lemon on a table in front of you,
Noticing the texture,
The smell,
What it looks like through the process of picking it up,
Holding it in your hand and feeling the weight.
Moving it closer to your nose,
Maybe smelling it a little bit.
You can almost notice the subtle sourness of that aroma of the lemon.
Then as you begin to put a slice of that lemon in your mouth,
Feel it on your tongue,
Moving it to the right side of your mouth,
To the left.
Then taking a bite,
Feeling that sour juice and swallowing.
You may begin to realize that your body reacts to that.
Whether it's detecting the scent of that sour aroma or maybe your mouth started to water.
That shows you that our brain and our body will react to things that we can experience more in depth.
And that's the whole point of visualization.
You can train your body's reaction in a controlled setting.
Now I want you to return back to your original object.
Bring to mind a simple action,
Something small.
Maybe it's reaching for the object,
Picking it up and holding it.
Begin to walk through that action slowly,
Step by step.
Really feel it,
See it,
And experience that action.
This right here is mental rehearsal,
Mental reps,
Practicing in the mind before acting in the world.
The more you do this,
The more you practice,
The more it strengthens those neural pathways to make it easier the next time.
Once again,
The brain does not fully distinguish between imagined and real experience.
This is why this skill is so powerful when it can be mastered.
I want you to let that image fade,
The object you chose,
And return to your breath.
Visualization is not about perfection.
It's about repetition,
Returning,
And refining.
Each time you practice,
Your imagery becomes clearer,
Stronger,
And more controlled.
Just like training your body,
You are training your mind.
Let's take one last breath in together,
In through our nose,
And a steady breath out through your mouth.
Today,
You began training a skill that most people never develop.
The ability to rehearse,
Refine,
And prepare in the mind.
This is a foundational piece of performance,
Of confidence,
Of growth.
When you're ready,
Gently open your eyes and bring yourself back to the room around you.
Carry this awareness forward for the rest of the day.
I'd love to hear in the comments what objects you chose,
And what doorways felt the most dominant for you.
Have a great day,
And set your heart ablaze.
