Hey,
I'm Lisa,
And I wanted to start by just asking you something.
How are you really?
And not the answer that you gave someone today,
Not the version of you that held it all together,
But how are you right now in this moment?
Because if you're here at this hour,
I think part of you is tired,
And not just physically,
But tired of carrying things,
Tired of turning things over in your mind that you can't fix right now,
That you couldn't fix yesterday,
Still be there tomorrow and I just want you to know that's okay that's human and tonight we are going to gently slowly put it all down I used to lie awake and go through my mental list everything I hadn't done everything I said everything that might go wrong and I thought I was being responsible like I just thought about it enough I could somehow control it but here's what I have have come to understand.
Worry isn't the problem-solving,
It's just the mind spinning with nowhere to land.
And the dark is not the right time to wrestle with hard things.
It doesn't give us answers.
It just makes everything feel heavier than it is.
There's a quieter truth that took me time to learn,
And we are not meant to hold everything.
We were never meant to.
So here's what I do,
And I want you to try it with me right now.
First,
Get really comfortable.
Let your body soften into wherever you're sitting or lying.
You don't need to do anything with your body except let it be heavy.
Take one slow breath in through your nose.
And then breathe out through your mouth.
Let it be audible and let it be a release.
Now I want you to think about what's on your mind tonight.
Don't push it away,
Just name it gently.
Maybe it's a relationship,
A worry about money,
Something you said,
Something unsaid,
Something you're waiting on.
Whatever it is,
Let it surface.
You don't have to fix it.
You don't have to see it.
Now place your hand on your chest and feel your heartbeat.
There,
Steady,
Faithful,
Doing its work without you having to think about it.
And I want you to say out loud or in your heart.
This is not mine to carry tonight.
Feel whatever that does,
Because something in us knows it's true.
We know somewhere deep down that we are held,
That there is a grace that works in the night while we rest.
That peace is not something that we manufacture.
That it's something we return to.
Take another breath.
This time.
As you breathe out,
Imagine that worry leaving your body with the air.
Now it's gone forever.
Just released for tonight.
Given to something larger than you.
You can do this each night,
Every time something arises that,
Feel it and release it.
And let it go.
Once you've released what's been weighing on you,
I want to invite you to fill that space with something gentle.
Think of one thing,
Just one,
That was good today.
It doesn't have to be big.
It can be a cup of something warm,
A moment of kindness,
The way the light fell through the window.
Your own breath which never asked anything of you.
Kept showing up today.
Gratitude doesn't deny the hard things.
It just reminds us that the hard things aren't the whole story.
Let that one good thing settle in your chest like a warm light.
Let it be enough for tonight.
You made it through today,
Every version of it,
The hard parts and the ordinary parts.
The moments you'll never remember.
You showed up.
And that matters.
Now it's time to rest.
Not because everything is perfect.
Not because everything is solved.
But because you are allowed to rest.
Rest is not a reward you earn,
It is a gift you receive.
So let your eyes close now if you haven't already.
Let your breath slow.
Let the night hold you the way it always does.
Quietly,
Faithfully,
Without asking anything in return.
You are not alone.
You are not forgotten.
And tomorrow will come with its own grace.
Sleep well,
Friends.
