If you feel safe and comfortable to do so,
Gently close your eyes or soften your gaze.
Allow your body to arrive here.
Let your hands gently rest on your lap or your heart or maybe beside you.
Notice where your body meets the chair or the floor beneath you.
You don't need to hold anything right now.
This time is for you.
No one is asking anything of you in this moment.
You are not leading.
You are being held.
You are not producing or planning.
You are beloved.
Take a deep breath in and slowly release and let those breaths cleanse you and release whatever you may need to let go of.
Let your breath become your anchor.
With each breath,
Let yourself settle more deeply into this moment.
You may notice sounds around you,
Thoughts passing through your mind or tension in your body.
Greet it all with compassion.
Let it be here and let it soften.
Breathe in presence and breathe out striving.
Breathe in God's nearness and breathe out the need to prove or perform.
Holy Week is not only something that you lead others through.
It's for you too.
The path from Palm Sunday to Easter is not only liturgical,
It is deeply human.
Jesus too felt tired.
Jesus too withdrew to pray.
Jesus too wept.
Jesus too longed for connection.
Let this be your moment in Gethsemane.
Not one of despair,
But of intimacy.
Of being fully seen,
Fully known.
You don't need to come to this time spiritually ready.
You don't need to carry the weight of the resurrection on your own.
The story does not depend on your perfect planning or preaching.
The spirit moves even in the silence.
Even in the moments you feel you have nothing left to give.
Let that truth settle in you now.
You are enough.
God is already here.
As you breathe,
Imagine God breathing with you.
Closer than your breath,
Surrounding and within you.
If a word or phrase rises,
Receive it gently.
It might be peace.
Abide.
I am with you.
Be still.
My grace is sufficient.
Let it echo softly within you.
No need to hold it tightly.
Just let it wash over you.
And if no words or images come,
That's okay.
There is holiness in the stillness.
There is blessing in the breath.
Let this prayer rise.
God,
I am weary.
I am willing.
Meet me here.
Let your strength rise where mine fades.
Let me glimpse your grace.
Even if just for this breath.
Begin to return gently to this space.
Wiggle your toes and fingers and notice the room around you.
And hear this.
You are not alone in this holy week.
You are journeying along paths well trodden by saints before you.
And you are being held by God.
By the earth.
By the breath.
By the grace.
As you continue in this sacred work,
May your soul remember.
You are not only preparing worship.
You are living in the story.
You are not only guiding others.
You are being guided too.
Amen.
Go in peace.
And may grace go with you.
