Enneagram eights are strong,
Direct,
And protective.
They value autonomy and control,
Often stepping into leadership or confrontation with ease.
Eights can be powerful advocates for justice,
But they may struggle to show vulnerability or tenderness.
At their best,
They lead with both strength and care,
Using their power to uplift and defend.
There are three instinctual subtypes of type eight,
Self-preservation,
Social,
And one-to-one.
I encourage you to explore how your subtype shapes your instincts around power,
Protection,
And connection.
Welcome.
Let this be a space where you do not have to hold everything,
A space where strength is not measured by control,
But by your capacity to be fully present.
Let your body rest into support,
Whatever that looks like for you today.
Allow your hands to soften,
And clench your jaw.
Let your shoulders release just a little.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Nothing needs to be defended here.
You are safe.
Hear this word from 2 Corinthians.
My grace is sufficient for you,
For power is made perfect in weakness.
You do not have to push to prove your strength.
You do not have to protect everyone all the time.
Power is not about being invulnerable.
Power in God's eyes is made perfect in surrender.
There is grace here.
Grace for your drive.
Grace for your fatigue.
Grace for your tenderness.
You are already held.
As a type 8,
Your leadership is bold,
Direct,
And protective.
You have a deep instinct to defend what is right,
And to shield those who are vulnerable.
You take up space with conviction and clarity.
You are strong.
You are just.
You are decisive.
And,
Underneath this strength,
Lives a tender heart.
One that may not always feel safe to reveal.
You may fear being controlled,
Betrayed,
Or exposed.
You may hold yourself back from receiving love,
Because to need anything can feel like a risk.
But Beloved,
Hear this.
Your softness does not make you weak.
Your need does not diminish your dignity.
Your willingness to trust is not surrendering power.
You are already safe in the presence of God.
Let these questions meet you gently.
Without pressure or urgency.
Where have I been carrying more than I need to?
What might happen if I allowed myself to be supported?
What parts of me long to soften?
Not as weakness,
But as truth.
Let your breath support whatever arises.
Bring attention to your body.
Where do you feel like you are holding armor?
Tightness?
Tension?
Force?
What would it feel like to let even a small part of that soften?
And now your heart.
Is there grief,
Tenderness,
Or vulnerability asking to be felt?
Can it be welcomed here?
And now your head.
What narratives about power or control are present in your mind today?
Are they still serving you?
Or is there a new story God is offering to you?
And let your body,
Heart,
And head be in communion.
Not in battle.
One last breath.
Inhale surrender.
And exhale striving.
You are not only strong when you are commanding.
You are not only courageous when you are guarded.
You are strongest when you are whole.
May you trust that softness is not a liability.
May you release the belief that you must go it alone.
May you receive the truth that you are loved without needing to prove anything.
As you move through your day,
May you choose to pause.
Not because you must,
But because you can.
Because it is safe to lay it down.
Because your strength is already rooted in love.
Amen.
