Hello and welcome to The Daily Insight.
I'm David and thank you so much for coming to sit with me for the wisdom of silence.
And I'd like to start this meditation with a quote from the poet Rumi.
And he says,
Silence is the language of God and everything else is a poor translation.
So with that inspiration let's go ahead and close our eyes.
I invite you to get comfortable,
Relax your shoulders,
Put down the rest of the world for a few minutes.
Just start to settle into this moment with me.
As you take a few slow deep breaths in and out of your body,
I invite you to start to recognize that no matter what's happening in the world,
No matter what's happening in your own mind,
That there's a deep underlying stillness and silence that is always present.
All the noises that we hear,
All the sounds,
All the distractions come out of silence and go back into silence.
Just like the disturbing waves on top of the ocean,
Underneath them there's this deep,
Deep well of stillness and peace.
So almost like a scuba diver who goes below the waves deep into the ocean and finds that stillness,
I invite you to recognize it in this moment inside yourself.
If there is anywhere you've been fighting your thoughts or trying to negotiate your way into stillness,
See if you could just put that down for a moment and just give yourself some space.
Put down the idea of being right or wrong,
Good or bad,
On the right path or the wrong path.
Allow yourself to take a moment in stillness.
Just like the waves on top of the ocean,
Underneath them there's this deep,
Deep well of stillness and peace.
Just like the disturbing waves on top of the ocean,
Underneath them there's this deep,
Deep well of stillness and peace.
Your job as a meditator is just to give that space and to do it with some compassion,
With a smile,
With a soft,
Gentle energy.
Notice that silence has an open invitation to you.
It has no judgment.
It's up to you just to allow yourself to become aware of it.
It's up to you to be aware of it.
It's up to you to be aware of it.
It's up to you just to allow yourself to become aware of it,
To connect with it,
And to let the wisdom of silence really open up inside you.
Thank you so much for sitting with me.
You can go ahead and open your eyes and stretch.
I wish you the best and I'll see you next time.
Enjoy yourself.
