Stress,
Anxiety,
And anger are triggers of depressive unwanted feelings.
But meditation can help change the way your brain responds to these emotions.
Change is uncomfortable.
Having our routines ruffled is far from soothing.
After all,
We are creatures of habit,
Even if we don't want to admit it,
And for good reason.
Whether we're conscious of it or not,
Familiarity calms us.
In other words,
It roots us as we face the ever-changing flow of life.
Our desire to cling to routine is our instinctual knowing that we need to establish some control in our lives in order to handle the uncontrollable.
Come into a seated position.
Begin by taking a deep breath and hold it here for five seconds.
Exhale forcefully through your mouth.
Take another deep breath as deep as you can and hold it here for five seconds.
And exhale forcefully through your mouth,
Blowing out all of your stress.
Take a third deep breath in and hold it.
As you exhale,
You blow out any stress you've been holding onto,
Saying to yourself,
There it is.
It's out of my system.
This is your new solution to stress.
Whenever you become stressed in the future,
You simply take three full deep breaths in,
Hold it at the top of your inhalation for five seconds.
And when you exhale,
You blow out any stress that you feel.
And on that third breath as you exhale,
You simply say to yourself,
I'm calm now.
From now on,
You choose to be relaxed.
You choose to be calm.
You choose to be in control of all you do because your health is very important to you.
Should we do that again?
Yeah,
Let's do that again.
Begin by taking a deep breath in,
Hold,
Exhale through your mouth.
Take another deep breath in as deep as you can.
Hold and exhale out through your mouth,
Blowing out all your stress.
Make it feel good.
Take a third deep breath in,
Hold it.
As you exhale,
Blow out all that stress,
Saying to yourself,
I'm calm now.
Good.
Now hear yourself saying,
Each day in every way I get better and better.
In order to make change,
I challenge myself.
When I have a negative thought,
I acknowledge that I feel this way and then I release it.
When another negative thought arises,
I catch it quickly and I say with confidence,
I acknowledge that part of me feels this way.
But this thought does not help me,
Not right now.
Each day in every way I get better and better.
Whenever I am presented with feelings of stress,
I know my breath is there to soothe me and guide me into relaxation.
Every single day,
I become more aware of all the good things going on in my community and in the world around me.
When I feel darkness is surrounding me,
I know that the way to see the light is to take those three deep breaths,
Relaxing my mind and my body by doing so.
Each day in every way I get better and better.
Take another deep breath in,
Bringing kindness to yourself.
Just resting and knowing that you have done very powerful work.
Just by practicing this when the need arises.
This is the simple way of change to make your life better.
Be peaceful.
Be well.
Be calm.
See you soon.
