Sweet Reminders for Leaders Over the course of my career,
I've worked helping to lead many different groups and finding community is so necessary.
And so today,
I'd like to share with you some helpful reminders from a gentleman's work that I respect and always feel like it comes right on time.
So let's begin.
Let's begin by taking a deep breath in.
Breathing in through your nose.
Exhaling out of your mouth.
Maybe give yourself a gentle tug.
Stretch your neck muscles out a little bit.
Maybe move your waist,
Your shoulders.
And just ground yourself for a minute.
Becoming fully present.
In the book,
The Self-Aware Leader,
John Maxwell writes,
Judge your leadership by the success of your team.
The question is often asked,
How am I doing as a leader?
The answer is how the people you lead are doing.
Do they learn?
Do they manage conflicts?
Do they initiate changes?
You won't remember when you retired what you did the first quarter of 1994.
What you will remember is how many people you developed.
He further writes that effective leaders are agents of change.
They help to create a conducive environment for people to choose to do things differently or go in a new direction.
Leading is tough work,
But it is 100% worth it.
And you've been assigned as a leader for a reason.
So let's take this in.
Breathing in your power,
Your influence.
And think for a moment,
Am I developing my team?
Am I inspiring them?
And if the answer is yes,
Then you're likely on the right track.
So pat yourself on the back and remember your beauty and influence.
Take that in.
And have a good day.
