Sleep well,
Getting comfortable in your place for sleep,
Lying down on your back,
Closing your eyes,
Just take another moment to settle into a relaxed position,
Allow your limbs to rest heavily on the surface beneath you,
I invite you to take a few slow deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth,
With each breath feel any tension or restlessness begin to dissolve,
Feel into your comfort once more and make any slight adjustments so that you can just be more comfortable,
And repeat after me,
I am grateful for the gift of sleep,
I am grateful for the gift of sleep,
Again I am grateful for the gift of sleep,
And I give thanks for the sleep I am about to have tonight,
Let's start with a body scan,
Starting at your toes,
Imagine a warm soft wave of relaxation moving up through your feet,
Let any tightness or discomfort simply melt away,
I am grateful for my feet,
I am grateful for my toes,
I am grateful for my ankles and my legs,
And I let them relax and let the wave of relaxation continue to flow up through your legs,
Calming all the muscles and releasing all and any tension,
I am grateful for my legs,
I am releasing all tension in my legs,
Sense this moving up to your hips,
To your lower back,
Smoothing away any lingering stress,
I am grateful for my relaxed hips,
I am releasing all tension and dropping deeper and deeper into relaxation,
As the waves of relaxation move through your body,
Let the waves move up through your torso,
Imagine these waves gently massaging away any knots or tightness in your abdomen,
Relaxing your chest and just letting your shoulders fall into the bed,
Feel a sense of weightlessness as this wave of tranquility envelops you,
I invite you to give thanks for your body,
Maybe state I am grateful for my body and I am releasing all tension within it and I am releasing all tightness within my body,
I am relaxing more and more with each slow breath,
Bring your awareness now to your arms,
Letting relaxation flow through your upper arms,
Down to your elbows,
Your forearms and hands,
Imagine your fingers becoming loose and limp as all tension dissolves,
I am grateful for my relaxed fingers,
Hands,
Arms and elbows and I am now releasing all tension in my shoulders all the way down to my little pinky fingers,
Moving your awareness to your neck and head,
They are already relaxed and now let go of any lingering tension in your jaw,
Let it relax even more,
Feel all your facial muscles relaxing,
Letting go of any worry or stress,
Just let it all leave your body and release any thoughts of sleep or worry about sleep,
You are just letting go of the mind,
With your body now fully relaxed,
Imagine yourself in a peaceful safe space,
This could be by a lake,
In a cosy forest or any location that makes you feel calm and secure,
Perhaps just cocooned up in your bed right now,
As you in nature,
These sounds that are relaxing and soothing you,
Feel the softness of your surroundings and the warmth of the sun,
With a gentle touch of a cool breeze on your skin,
Allow yourself to fully immerse in this tranquil environment,
Now shift your attention back to your breath,
Imagine your breath matching the natural calming rhythm of your surroundings,
As you inhale and exhale gently,
Effortlessly,
Like the gentle ebb and flow of the tide,
With each breath you become more relaxed,
More at ease,
Any thoughts of worries that may be keeping you awake,
Begin to drift away like leaves in a stream,
As they float down the river,
They are becoming harder and harder to see,
And the worries are just drifting away,
One by one,
Out of sight,
Out of mind,
As you continue to breathe and visualise this peaceful place,
You can feel the heaviness in your body,
A sign that sleep is inviting you,
Allow yourself at any time to surrender to the comfort of deep natural sleep,
Know that you are safe and supported,
And that sleep is a natural and rejuvenating state for your body and mind,
And now as you are walking through a forest you find some stairs leading deeper and deeper into sleep,
You are allowing your body and mind to fully rejuvenate,
So when you finally wake up you will feel refreshed and ready to face the day,
Imagine yourself at the top of this staircase,
This staircase has 10 steps,
And with each step you will descend deeper and deeper into relaxation and sleep,
The staircase is taking you deeper and deeper into the jungle of sleep and dreams,
As you take the first step you feel a gentle wave of relaxation washing over you,
Your body becomes lighter and any tension that is still residual in your body is melting away,
You take the 9th step descending further now,
Your mind becomes calmer and any lingering thoughts or worries begin to fade into the background,
Step 8 with each step you move deeper and deeper into a state of peaceful relaxation,
Feel your body becoming more and more at ease with each step you take,
Step 7 as you continue down the staircase your breathing becomes slower and more rhythmic like the gentle rise and fall of ocean waves,
Step 6 you are half way down now,
And the sensations of tranquility envelop you,
Your muscles loosen and your mind becomes quieter with each step,
Moving even deeper into relaxation at step 5 you may notice a warm comforting sensation spreading through your whole body,
Step 4 you become more and more relaxed and the outside world begins to fade away,
Step 3 you are almost there now,
With only 3 steps left,
Your thoughts are becoming distant and your body is heavy and comfortable,
Step 2 as you descend the second to last step you feel a sense of peacefulness that you haven't experienced in a long time,
Step 1 now on the final step you are completely relaxed and ready to drift into a deep restful place in your mind,
Your mind is calm,
Your body is at ease and you are enveloped in a cocoon of tranquility,
Allow yourself to enjoy this deep deep state of relaxation,
You are now in a state of deep relaxation and ready to transition into a peaceful and restful sleep,
You can let go of any remaining awareness as you drift deeper and deeper into sleep,
Knowing that you will wake up refreshed and revitalised when the time is right,
As you go deeper into sleep your body knows that this is essential for your physical wellbeing,
It plays a vital role in repairing your tissues,
Boosting your immunity system and regulating your hormones,
Mental clarity as you go deeper into your body,
Your body knows it enhances your cognitive functions,
Such as memory consolidation and problem solving skills allowing you to think more clearly,
Emotional stability as you go deeper into sleep your body knows deep sleep contributes to your emotional resilience,
By regulating mood and reducing stress,
Anxiety and irritability,
So you let yourself go deeper and deeper into your sleep,
Your sleep also improves focus as you go deeper and deeper into your body,
Your body knows it helps improve your ability to concentrate,
Maintain focus throughout the day,
Increased levels of energy as you go deeper into sleep,
Your body knows deep sleep provides the energy to perform daily tasks and activities with enthusiasm and power,
Deep sleep also improves and enhances your creativity,
As you go deeper into your sleep your body knows it can stimulate creativity,
Your sleep enhancing your creativity,
As you go deeper into sleep your body knows it can stimulate creative thinking and innovative ideas,
By allowing your brain to process information efficiently,
As you go deeper into your sleep your body also knows that adequate sleep,
Deep sleep is associated with a longer life span and better overall health,

Let yourself have the experiences of dreams as you go deeper into your sleep,
