Calm in the eye of the storm.
In this meditation we'll be using deep belly breathing so you can sit in the middle of the storms of life,
So you can be calm in the centre.
Once you find your breath in a storm you can remain calm in the centre of any of life's storms.
In this meditation we'll be using belly breathing,
Also known as diaphragmic breathing or deep belly breathing.
It's a simple and effective way to anchor your awareness and bring in a sense of calm into any of life's storms.
Once you know this practice you will be able to sit in the middle of life's challenges.
Okay,
So get really comfortable.
Place one hand on your belly and one hand on your heart.
This is to ensure that you're engaging your diaphragm.
Exhale fully.
Now breathe in slowly through your nose,
Allowing your abdomen to expand as you fill your lungs with air.
Slowly exhale completely through your mouth or your nose,
Allowing your abdomen to fall as you release the air.
Imagine all tension and stress leaving your body.
Repeat.
Breathe in slowly through your nose,
Allowing your abdomen to expand.
Slowly exhale completely through your mouth or your nose,
Allowing your abdomen to fall as you release the air.
Imagine all tension and stress leaving your body.
Just keep breathing these beautiful belly breaths in and out of your body.
In,
Out.
In,
Out.
Now just let yourself keep breathing with the sounds of my breath.
Just relax as you're breathing these nice deep breaths in and out,
Using your belly as a pump.
That's right.
Relax.
Just let your belly expand on the inhales and contract on the exhales.
Inhaling and exhaling.
Allow your abdomen to fall as you're releasing air and imagine all tension and stress leaving your body with every exhale.
As you breathe deeply and rhythmically,
You're consciously releasing tension in your whole body.
Imagine yourself especially releasing tension from any areas you may be holding stress.
Perhaps your shoulders,
Your neck,
Your jaw.
Just letting everything go on the exhales and on the inhales bringing in new life to your body.
Paying close attention to your breath as it just moves seamlessly in and out of your body.
Feel relaxation coming in to your body.
The turmoils of life's challenges and storms exist.
Yet within you is a remarkable oasis of tranquility.
You are becoming the eye of the storm.
As you are breathing,
Picture yourself sitting at the centre of a large storm and notice you are untouched by the chaos swirling around you.
As the storms of life rage around you,
You remain composed.
You remain anchored by a profound sense of calm.
Here you engage in deliberate and measured breaths.
Each inhalation drawing in serenity and each exhalation releasing tension from your body.
You are within the sanctuary of your breath.
Amidst the external turbulence,
Your inner sanctuary has emerged.
Where clarity prevails and emotions find equilibrium.
And you know your breath is bringing you to this place.
You are sitting calmly in the eye of the storm.
You know in this moment that even when life's challenges are at their fiercest,
You possess the power to find the peace within.
Your breath is a testament to your resilience.
Your breath is an affirmation that in the midst of chaos there is always refuge within.
Your breath is a place from which you can gather strength,
Make wise decisions and ultimately emerge stronger because of your breath.
Let your body continue to breathe these beautiful breaths.
Let it become a natural rhythm and pattern for you.
Let your body and mind know that this is now your default breath,
Your default pattern any time you are in the face of any of life's challenges.
While practicing this breath technique,
You keep your awareness on the centre of your being.
Feel yourself as the calm.
Feel yourself as the still point in the centre of the storm.
Realise that no matter how chaotic things may become for you,
You can remain steady and composed for coming back to these slow,
Deep belly breaths.
Bring in gratitude for your breath.
And now let yourself just come back to normal breathing.
Reflect on the sense of calm that you have cultivated and express some gratitude for this moment of peace.
Meditation is a practice and changing old patterns and bringing in new patterns can sometimes take time,
Especially when it's for our mental wellbeing.
Consistency is the key.
So try to make meditating and breathing breaths,
Connected breaths into your body a daily habit.
Connecting yourself deeper and deeper into yourself.
And over time,
You'll find it easier to access the calm centre within yourself,
Even when life storms are raging around you.
That's right.
Every day you can reduce stress,
Anxiety and tension while promoting a sense of calm and wellbeing.
With your slow,
Deep breaths,
You can sit at the centre of any storm and be relaxed and centred just by using your slow,
Deep belly breaths.
