Welcome.
This practice is a place to gently set down the day.
There is nothing that you need to solve tonight.
No relationship you need to figure out.
Or conversation you need to replay until you finally understand it.
The next few minutes,
We're simply going to notice what today held,
Offer a little compassion to the parts of you that may have become activated.
And begin letting the day go.
So allow yourself to get comfortable.
Feel the weight of your body settling into the bed.
Snuggle down,
And notice the support underneath you.
You don't have to hold yourself up anymore.
Let your jaw soften.
Let your shoulders loosen.
Your hands become heavy.
And just notice your breathing without feeling a need to change it at all.
Just settle into your breath.
One inhale.
And exhale at a time.
Letting the day begin to move a little farther away.
Tonight I want to invite you into reflection without analysis.
We are not searching for everything you did wrong.
We're not diagnosing your attachment style.
We're simply becoming curious about the moments when connection mattered today.
Let your mind gently move through the day.
Not every detail.
Just allow a few moments to come to you.
Maybe there was a moment when you felt close to someone.
Supported,
Understood,
At ease.
Notice that.
Your nervous system learns from moments of safety and connection too.
Let yourself register.
There was connection here.
There was safety.
There was something I could receive.
And now perhaps notice whether there was a moment today when connection felt less certain.
Maybe someone seemed distant.
Maybe you wanted reassurance.
Maybe a conversation felt uncomfortable or misunderstood.
Maybe you wanted to pull away.
Or perhaps one part of you wanted closeness,
While another part wanted space.
You don't need to go deeply into the story,
Just notice.
Something in me responded there.
Rather than asking.
What's wrong with me or why am I like this?
Let's see if you can ask something gentler.
What was I needing in that moment?
Potentially connection,
Space,
Reassurance.
Understanding.
Respect.
Clarity,
Maybe you just don't know.
And that's okay,
Too.
You don't have to understand everything tonight.
Simply recognizing that there was a need underneath the reaction is more than enough.
Take a slow breath in.
And let it go with a sigh.
If there was something about your response today that you wish had gone differently.
See if you can meet that with compassion too.
Maybe you overthought.
Maybe you reached for reassurance again and again.
Maybe you shut down or pulled away.
Maybe you became defensive.
Instead of judging yourself,
Try saying quietly.
That was my nervous system,
Trying to protect something important.
It doesn't mean that every response was perfect or helpful.
Compassion does not mean avoiding responsibility.
It simply gives us a safer place from which to learn.
You can acknowledge.
There may be something I want to do differently next time.
And I do not have to do it perfectly.
Take another deep breath in.
And a nice long exhale.
For tonight,
You don't need to change the pattern.
You only need to notice it.
Awareness is how new patterns begin.
Perhaps ask yourself one final question about today.
What would I like to carry forward?
And what can I leave here tonight?
Maybe there's something worth carrying.
A moment of connection.
Boundary you honored?
Something you communicated clearly.
A moment where you paused instead of reacting.
Let yourself keep that.
And now notice what you've been carrying that does not need to come into sleep with you.
That conversation you've been replaying.
Something you wish you'd said or done differently.
A message you're still waiting on.
Someone else's mood or facial expression.
A question without an answer.
See if you can gently say.
I can return to this tomorrow if I need to.
Not everything has to be resolved before you allow yourself to rest.
You are allowed to sleep while something remains uncertain.
You were allowed to rest.
Even if another person is unhappy.
You are allowed to let go of the conversation for tonight.
There will be time for clarity.
There will be time for communication.
There will be a time to decide what you need.
But for right now.
.
.
Your job is to rest.
Feel the bed beneath you again.
Let your body become a little heavier.
The day is over.
You do not need to keep watch over it.
And maybe offer yourself these words.
I can care about my relationships without carrying them through the night.
I can notice my patterns without judging myself for having them.
I can take responsibility for my choices without taking responsibility for everything.
I can let today be complete.
And if this practice feels supportive.
Consider returning to it regularly.
Not because you need to get it right,
But because every time you pause,
Notice,
Offer yourself compassion,
And choose not to react immediately,
You're practicing something.
You are building the capacity to stay with yourself.
To recognize what you need.
To notice when your attachment system becomes activated without automatically following it wherever it wants to go.
Like any new skill,
This becomes more familiar through repetition.
Some nights you'll notice a lot.
Other nights,
You may barely make it through the first few minutes before falling asleep.
Both count.
There is nothing to achieve here.
Simply returning as practice.
Now,
There is nowhere else that you need to go.
Nothing else you need to understand.
Let the breath move quietly through you.
Let your thoughts come and go without following them.
If the mind returns to something unfinished,
Gently remind it.
Not tonight.
I can come back to this tomorrow.
For now.
I am here.
I am resting.
I am allowed to let go.
And this day is complete.
I'll leave you with some music to fall asleep to.
Rest well my friend.
