Still lake of the mind,
Begin by taking a comfortable seat,
Either on a cushion on the floor or in a chair with your feet flat on the floor and your back supported.
Come into a comfortable seat with the spine tall.
Close your eyes,
Move into the breath,
Notice the natural rise and fall of each inhale and exhale.
If you're holding tension anywhere in the body,
Have the intention to let it go,
Allow the body to be relaxed but alert.
I'll bring your awareness to the brain.
Move your gaze inward and see the mind like the surface of a still lake.
Feel and see,
Experience the mind tranquil like the surface of a still lake.
As thoughts arise,
See them like ripples across the lake of the mind and then see the lake return to a state of tranquility and stillness.
Keep returning to the mind like a still lake.
No matter what feelings,
Thoughts or experiences arise,
Keep feeling pulled by the essence of mind into complete stillness,
Into the depth of being.
Now please bring your awareness to the back of the head.
About the same height of the eyebrows at the back of the head,
Visualize a full moon resting.
Meditate on the full moon at the back of the head.
Keep letting go into the etheric,
Bluish,
Soothing presence of the moon at the back of your head.
Feel its presence imbuing you with these etheric qualities,
Healing mind,
Thought,
Emotion and psyche with the sublime presence of this full moon.
Sense its profound nurturing expanding into your consciousness.
Now see,
Feel or experience a bright ray of moonlight beaming over the lake of the mind and out through the point between the eyebrows,
A ray of moonlight moving from the full moon at the back of your skull and beaming out between the eyebrows.
See the lake of the mind shimmering with moonlight and meditate on that beam of silvery moonlight,
This light magnetizing the third eye and moving out into the infinite.
Keep surrendering to moonlight flooding the lake of the mind and beaming out from the space between the eyebrows.
Taste the eternal wisdom of your highest self.
Slowly bring your attention back to your breath.
As you become aware of the breath,
Feel that the depth of the practice is sealed within you.
As you breathe in,
Visualize the breath rising through the left nostril and as you exhale,
See it descend through the right.
Then see the breath rise through the right nostril and descend through the left as you exhale.
And now inhale and exhale through both nostrils.
Lower your chin and bring your palms together at the center of the chest and then to the third eye.
Let the thumbs touch the space between the eyebrows,
Honoring the light of the self and the still lake of the mind,
Remembering even the briefest moments of peace,
The etheric qualities of healing mind,
Thought and emotion.
Honor yourself and the time that you took to connect with this deepest part of yourself and acknowledge the peace and wisdom through the journey of practice.
Om Shanti,
Om Peace.
