Welcome to this guided meditation designed to prepare your mind and body for deep sleep.
You've made it.
The day is done and now it's time to rest.
Let's begin by finding a comfortable position,
Lying down,
Perhaps on your bed,
Wrapped in whatever makes you feel held and warm.
Let your arms and legs be heavy,
Let your body take up space and when you're ready,
Gently closing your eyes.
Take a deep breath in through your nose and exhale softly through your mouth,
Again,
Deep breath in,
Exhale,
Letting the day flow from your body,
One more deep breath in and sigh it out as you exhale.
Let your breath return to its natural rhythm,
Easy,
Unrushed,
Like waves on the shore,
Nowhere else you need to be.
Let yourself arrive here,
In this quiet,
Still space between wake and sleep.
If your mind is still busy,
That's okay.
You don't need to chase the quiet,
It will come.
For now,
Just breathe.
Allow yourself to soften just 1% deeper on every exhale.
Let your body begin to melt into your bed.
Feel the weight of your body sinking deeper and deeper,
Darting at the crown of your head.
Imagine a soft wave of relaxation moving over your forehead,
Softening your cheeks,
Unclenching your jaw,
Relaxing your shoulders,
Releasing your belly.
Feel it move all the way down through your hips,
Your legs are heavy,
This wave travelling all the way down to the soles of your feet.
Let yourself be held by your bed,
By your breath,
By this moment.
Now imagine a gentle warm light above you,
Soft,
Almost golden,
It's here to wrap you up in peace.
With every breath,
Let this light move through you,
Soothing every muscle,
Every thought,
Every part of you that feels tired or worn out.
Begin to feel your body growing even heavier.
Your breath becoming slower,
Softer,
Without effort,
As if each inhale gently expands you and each exhale helps you melt a little deeper into your bed.
Simply guide it back to the breath,
To this feeling of soft surrender.
Allow your breath to hold you here in a warm cocoon,
Feel your body welcoming in rest.
Your nervous system slowing down,
And even if sleep doesn't come right away,
That's okay,
This stillness is restoring you.
Let's rest here in this space together for a little while.
Just being,
Just breathing,
Just you.
And exhale slowly,
Complete whole body exhale with you.
You are now ready for sleep,
You are held.
Let yourself drift.
