Hi there and welcome to your guided meditation on self-care.

To begin,

Find yourself a comfortable seated position,

Lengthening through the back line of the body,

Creating a sense of alertness whilst simultaneously releasing any tension throughout the body.

Softly,

Closing down the eyes,

But imagine you're smiling through them,

Even though the eyelids are shut.

Guiding your awareness to your breath,

Start to deepen the breath,

Breathing into the low belly,

Then the heart space,

Letting your ribcage expand before parting the lips as you release and exhale.

Taking two more deep belly breaths,

Just like that.

Now take a moment to thank yourself for showing up to your meditation practice today.

In giving yourself this five minutes of space and mindfulness,

You're choosing to show up for yourself.

So often we get caught up in the busyness of the world and put other people's needs before our own,

But the simple fact is we cannot pour from an empty cup.

It's important to nourish yourself first so that you can be the best version of yourself when showing up for others.

Self-care is not selfish,

It's self-preservation.

I invite you to take the next few moments to think about the 24 hours that lie ahead.

What's one thing you are going to do for yourself?

Remember,

Self-care is giving the world the best of you rather than what's left of you.

Gently start to bring your awareness back into the space around you.

Inviting some subtle movement back into the body,

Rubbing your thumbs and fingertips together.

And when you're ready,

Gently open your eyes.

I hope you've enjoyed this meditation on self-care.

Until next time,

Om Shanti.
