Welcome to Yin for Inner Peace.
Rest beneath the stars.
This is a time for yin,
For softening rather than striving,
Receiving rather than reaching,
Being rather than doing.
So,
Find your comfy space warm and cozy.
Allow your hands to rest,
Let your shoulders soften.
Gently close your eyes and before we go anywhere at all just notice that you are already here.
Breathing alive,
Held by this moment.
Take a slow breath in.
And let it leave you without effort.
Again and again and again.
Breathing in.
And gently breathing out,
Letting go of any stress or tension.
Just feel your breath gently flowing in.
And gently flowing out.
You see yourself resting beneath a vast evening sky.
The earth is beneath you,
The night is stretching endlessly above,
And the last traces of daylight have faded.
Everything has become quieter.
And you are lying down on the soft grass.
The earth is beneath you.
And above you,
The first stars begin to appear.
You see one.
Than another.
Then another.
You just witness each one beginning to glow.
Is something amazing about the night sky that really invites us to stop.
The edges they soften,
Distances disappear.
The world no longer is asking to be seen so clearly.
And here you are for a little while,
Invited into this mystery,
Into stillness,
Into yin,
And resting here beneath this beautiful night sky.
Is nowhere your mind needs to travel.
Nothing more you need to imagine.
You simply allow yourself to be held.
By the quiet.
The stillness of the night.
And now you begin to notice.
Silence is never truly empty.
Within it,
There is this gentle hum of life.
It might be the soft whisper of an evening breeze.
The distant sounds of the night.
The quiet rhythm.
Of your breathing.
And the steady beat of your beautiful heart.
Even stillness is alive.
And maybe that's why we are drawn to the night sky.
It reminds us of something we sometimes forget during the busyness of our days.
You realize that we belong to something immeasurably greater than ourselves.
So,
For a few moments,
Allow yourself to feel that belonging.
What is something you have to understand?
Just something you can feel.
The earth beneath you.
The sky above you,
Your breath moving between the two.
And you right here belonging.
And to belong here,
You don't have to become calmer,
Wiser,
Better.
You are welcomed into this moment because you are here,
Exactly as you are.
Human beings have looked towards this same night sky for thousands of years.
In wonder,
In celebration,
In uncertainty,
In hope.
So many lives,
So many stories,
And still the sky with the stars twinkling remains.
It's fast enough to hold them all.
So,
Tonight,
Let it hold your light,
Your starlight,
With infinite space.
Take another gentle breath.
And as you breathe in Receive the spaciousness around you.
And as you breathe out.
At something softer.
Breathing in.
Receiving.
Breathing out,
Softening.
Simply loosen,
Feel your body softened.
Thoughts or worries drifting away.
Being in the moment.
And as you rest here,
The boundary between you and the starlit night begins to feel a little softer.
You are no longer simply looking at the night sky.
You are resting within it.
You are held by it.
You are part of it.
And there is something extraordinary to remember here.
Calcium within your bones,
The iron that is carried through your blood,
The elements that make up this living body were forged in these ancient stars.
And remember that you are not separate from this vast universe because you are made from it.
And some part of you has always known that.
So just feel those words in your heart.
And remember that you belong.
And maybe peace isn't something we find at all.
Because peace is what remains when we stop searching,
When we stop reaching,
When we allow ourselves simply to be.
So,
For these few precious moments,
Rest as the night rests.
Rest in its vastness,
In its openness,
In its own unhurried way.
And just notice how the night never competes with the day.
It doesn't try to become brighter.
It simply offers its own gifts.
Gifts of rest.
Reflection,
Sleep.
Dreaming.
Gentleness.
Mystery.
There may be seasons in our own lives.
When we are invited to become a little more like the night.
To listen more deeply.
To move more slowly.
To honor rest as much as action.
There is great wisdom in what grows quietly.
Those seeds beneath the air,
The roots reaching through darkness in the air.
The moon.
Hidden behind clouds.
A new beginning that nobody else can see yet.
Some of life's deepest transformations happen quietly.
Above you now,
The stars are shimmering softly.
Not dazzling.
Not demanding your attention,
But they are simply present.
These tiny points of light scattered through an enormous darkness,
And each one is carrying a quiet blessing.
Just for you.
One whispers rest.
Another trust.
Another you are enough.
Another.
You are loved.
And somewhere in that endless sky,
Another whispers.
You belong.
Simply notice which words your heart seems to lean towards and receive those words.
Slowly bring your awareness gently towards your heart and just imagine a small glow there.
Soft.
Silver.
Quiet as moonlight.
It doesn't need to shine brightly,
It just simply glows.
Steady.
Warm.
Unconditional.
And this light is not asking anything of you.
Is simply illuminating what has been there all along.
Beneath the striving.
Beneath expectation.
Beneath every story you've ever told yourself about who you should be.
There is still.
This quiet presence,
Your living heart,
Your capacity for tenderness.
Compassion for love.
And that includes love for yourself.
For the peace that you feel within.
So allow that soft light to move gently through your body now.
Flowing down your neck,
Your shoulder.
Your chest.
The whole of your back and spine.
Our Papa?
Middle back.
Lower back down through your arms.
Into your hands and fingers and this soft light is now moving through your belly.
Your belly is feeling so soft and nourished.
Down through your hips,
Your legs.
All the way to your feet and toes.
It is simply this beautiful,
Night light meeting your body.
Your breath is meeting stillness.
Your breath is meeting peace.
This is Yin.
You are receiving and you are allowing.
You are feeling so peaceful right now.
Now you see this quiet light extending just beyond you.
It's like the moonlight touching a calm sea.
It is simply illuminating.
Maybe this is one of the ways peace moves through our world.
Quietly through one heart.
One breath.
One gentle word.
One act of kindness.
One person choosing not to add more noise to the noise.
Resting in the peace within.
So just rest here for a few moments.
Held beneath the earth below and the infinite sky above.
You are here You are whole.
You belong.
You are resting in peace.
And maybe you begin to realize something beautifully simple now.
The peace that you were seeking was never hidden among the stars.
The light simply helped you remember where to look.
And that is with it.
So take a slow nourishing breath.
Feel the coolness of your inhale.
And the gentle warmth of your exhale.
Breathing naturally.
Feel the flow,
The rhythm of your breath.
Notice your peaceful breathing.
Life really knows how to breathe you.
Now the stars are beginning to soften into the deep blue of the sky.
The moon continues its quiet journey.
The earth continues turning.
Nothing is hurry.
And still,
Everything unfolds.
The moon never hurries towards its fullness.
The tides they never apologize for retreating.
Winter does not doubt the arrival of spring and nature is moving according to its own rhythm.
And now you can trust your own rhythm too.
Beautiful.
Begin gently returning to the awareness of your body.
Feel the surface beneath you.
The rhythm of your breathing.
Roll your shoulders if that feels good.
Give yourself a gentle stretch.
And just meet this moment differently.
Bring one hand gently to your heart,
The other to your abdomen.
Just feel your own warmth beneath your palms.
Feel the beautiful rhythm of life continuing within you.
Take a slow breath in,
Expand.
And breathe out with a gentle sigh.
And release.
Let these words settle softly within you.
Remember the peace that lives beneath the noise.
Trust the quiet wisdom of your own beating heart.
Honour every season of your life.
Softer without losing your strength.
Allow yourself to rest.
And may you move gently through the world.
With compassion for others and tenderness towards yourself.
Notice the stillness in unexpected places.
Beneath an open sky.
Beside a tree.
In birdsong.
In the moonlight.
Or just one conscious breath.
And whenever life becomes noisy again,
Remember… beneath every wave.
There is deeper water.
When you're ready allow your eyes to slowly open.
Notice the light,
The colors around you.
The peace that you are feeling.
And remember this quiet knowing.
Peace doesn't belong only to moments like this.
It belongs in the way you speak,
The way you listen,
The way you look at the sky.
And the way that you will meet yourself tomorrow morning.
Peace belongs to living to being within you.
To wherever you go from here.
May a little of this vast,
Quiet,
Peaceful night go with you.
Namaste,
My friends.
