Welcome.
I'm so glad that you're here.
Whatever this day has brought you,
Or perhaps it's the beginning of your day,
Just wherever you are,
Whatever you're carrying,
You don't need to push it away.
This is a safe place.
For these few minutes,
There is nowhere else that you need to be.
There's nothing to fix.
Nothing to prove.
Nothing to achieve.
Just this moment.
And your gentle presence within it.
I invite you to find a comfortable position,
Sitting or lying down,
Whatever is your practice.
Allow your body to be supported by the ground beneath you or by the chair holding you.
Again,
This is your practice.
Whatever you decide.
If it feels comfortable,
Gently close your eyes.
Or simply soften your gaze.
We invite you to take a slow breath in through your nose.
And a long easy breath out.
Again,
Breathing in through the nose and then breathing out,
Letting your shoulders soften.
One more time.
Breathing in through your nose.
And then out through your mouth.
Now I invite you to allow your breath to find its own natural rhythm of breathing.
You do not need to control it.
We're just noticing it,
Being aware,
Observing.
Now,
I invite you to bring your attention to the top of your head.
Slowly gently.
Allow awareness to move down through the forehead.
The space around your eyes.
Your jaw.
Allow the jaw to loosen.
The tongue to rest.
Taste and sock it.
Feeling the shoulders relaxing.
The chest rising and falling.
The belly breathing without effort.
And hands resting easily.
Your legs are supported.
The whole body is here.
The whole body is held.
There's nothing you need to hold up right now.
Nothing you need to carry for this moment.
If it feels right,
Place one hand over your heart.
Feel the warmth of your own hand.
Feel the simple kindness of this gesture.
Beneath your hand is a heart.
The part that has been beating for you all your life.
Without demanding anything from you.
Without asking you to be part of it.
Without needing you to earn its care.
Allow yourself to take a breath into the space.
And as you exhale.
Allow a little softness to move through the heart.
So often we are quicker to criticize ourselves than to comfort ourselves.
We speak to ourselves in ways we would never speak to someone we love.
And on the hard days,
That voice can become especially sharp.
Today,
Let us practice something different.
Not force positivity.
Not pretending everything is fine.
Just a tender,
Kinder way of being with yourself.
A gentler way of turning inward.
And I offer you the following affirmation,
And I invite you to repeat each line silently or out loud,
Whichever feels right for you.
Let us begin.
I meet myself with kindness,
Especially on hard days.
Breathing in and out.
And let's repeat again.
I meet myself with kindness,
Especially on hard days.
Letting that healing in your body.
Letting the words wash over you as we repeat again.
I meet myself with kindness.
Especially on hard days.
And then just taking a moment to feel those words in your body.
Noticing how you feel.
Is there any more E's?
Is perhaps a resistance.
Or tenderness.
Maybe there's a quiet wish to believe in.
Whatever there is,
It's welcome.
I invite you to imagine for a moment that you are sitting beside someone who truly cares about you.
Someone who sees your effort.
Someone who understands that being human can be heavy.
Someone who knows you have done your best with what you had.
They are not disappointed in you.
They are not measuring you.
They are simply sitting with you.
Patience.
With more.
With a steady loving presence.
Now imagine that same presence turning towards you from within.
Calm,
Kind voice.
A compassionate witness.
A sock,
And a friend.
And in that voice you hear.
You are allowed to be gentle with yourself.
You are allowed to rest.
You are allowed to begin again.
Just allowing these phrases to wash through you slowly.
Not forcing anything.
Just receive what you can.
Let us take this moment to offer love and kindness to ourselves.
Repeat silently or out loud.
May I be kind to myself today.
May I be patient with myself today.
May I meet my struggle with compassion.
May I know that I deserve the same gentleness I give to others.
Breathing in.
And then out,
Letting go of any harshness you've been carrying.
And again,
Repeating these phrases silently or out loud.
May I be kind to myself today.
May I be patient with myself today.
May I meet my own struggle with compassion.
May I know that I deserve the same gentleness I give to others.
Breathing in.
In and out.
Repeating again.
May I be kind to myself today.
May I be patient with myself today.
May I meet my own struggle with compassion.
May I know that I deserve the same gentleness I give to others.
Letting go.
Releasing.
If you're feeling any pressure.
Any self-blame.
Any old belief that you must be hard on yourself to be worthy.
You can set that down now.
Arigato.
And reminding ourselves.
Bringing back our attention to the heart.
If your hand is still there feeling it's warm.
If not,
Simply rest in the feeling of being here.
And again repeating affirmations,
Letting them wash over you.
I meet myself with kindness.
Especially on hard days.
Letting that truly sink in.
I meet myself with kindness.
Especially on hard days.
Picturing that.
Feeling that within your heart center.
I mate myself with kindness.
Especially on hard days.
Allow those words to settle in like a soft blanket.
Let them rest in you.
Let them be enough.
Letting it wash over you.
Knowing that you are worthy.
You are worthy of kindness and compassion.
From yourself and others.
We invite you to take a slow inhale in through your nose.
And let it go out through your mouth.
You don't like it?
Noticing how your body feels.
Notice the support beneath you.
And when ready,
I invite you to add gentle movement back into your body.
Gently wiggling your fingers and toes And if your eyes are closed,
Slowly opening them.
And I invite you to carry these messages with you throughout the day and then perhaps into tomorrow,
Reminding yourself.
Not as a task.
Not as a test.
Just a quiet remembering.
You are worthy.
Meeting yourself with kindness,
Especially on hard days.
Thank you for being here.
