This meditation is to help you feel more acceptance about physical changes in your body, whether they are physical changes from aging, injury, stress, or hormonal changes. The meditation starts with bringing awareness to the breath and then moves to repeating a positive affirmation about change. The first one: "I find stability within, even in the midst of change." And the second one: "I embrace change with an open heart and a curious mind." You can choose which affirmation resonates with you the most today and then silently repeat it to yourself while keeping awareness on your breath. The practice ends with one OM. Music: Messages by Maura ten Hoopen. Provided by Restful Mind.

Hello,

This is Amy Ruthie,

And this is a meditation to help you find more acceptance around physical changes in the body.

Start by getting as comfortable as you can in whatever position feels right for you right now.

Really settle into the surface beneath you and bring your awareness to your breath as you breathe in and out through your nose.

Notice how the air is a bit cooler as you exhale.

So just bringing your awareness to your nose as you inhale and exhale.

Cool air in,

Warm air out.

And shifting to what I like to call quiet breathing.

So slowing your breathing down where you can barely hear yourself inhale and exhale.

So in and out through the nose and try to breathe as quietly as you can.

Now that you're nice and settled in,

Bring your awareness to something in your body,

In your physical body that has changed and is troubling you.

Maybe it's due to aging,

Maybe perhaps hormonal changes.

Just bringing into your mind something in your physical body that has been changing,

Shifting,

And has been troubling you.

Bring that into your mind's eye.

I want you to silently repeat two affirmations regarding accepting change.

The first one is,

I find stability within,

Even in the midst of change.

I'll repeat that again,

I find stability within,

Even in the midst of change.

And the second one,

I embrace change with an open heart and a curious mind.

I'll repeat that again so that you can silently repeat that to yourself.

I embrace change with an open heart and a curious mind.

I invite you to choose the affirmation that resonated with you the most today.

And in a moment,

I'll have you silently repeat that to yourself over and over.

So the affirmations again,

The first one,

I find stability within,

Even in the midst of change.

The second one,

I embrace change with an open heart and a curious mind.

And if neither of those work for you today,

That's okay.

You can use a simpler affirmation of I accept.

So returning back to the quiet breathing in and out through your nose and repeating one of those affirmations over and over.

And I will lovingly guide you back at the end.

If your mind has wandered away to other thoughts,

That's okay.

Just bring it back to your affirmation.

And if you need a shorter one,

You can use I accept.

And as your mind drifts away,

Lovingly bring it back to your affirmation and repeating the affirmation to yourself two more times.

And really feel that statement in your body.

And returning back to the physical part of your body that has been changing and troubling you.

And notice how you feel towards it now.

Do you feel a little more accepting or loving or compassionate or perhaps no change at all?

And that's also okay.

This all takes time and practice.

And we'll conclude this meditation with two sighs and one oh together.

Exhale,

Sigh it out.

Exhale,

Sigh.

I hope that you'll return to this meditation to help you continue to feel more acceptance about your changing physical body.

Namaste.
