This is Bethany Moore with Alchemy Studio.
My passion is helping clients self-heal through a variety of skills and tools gained through guided facilitation,
Somatic awareness,
Parts work,
And expressive arts-based practices.
The following guided visualization is called Body Scan with Centering.
So let's begin.
I'd like you to find a place to sit with your feet on the ground or the floor,
Your body sitting,
And we're going to take this slow.
I really want you to start to just notice yourself.
Notice your body where it touches the chair or the couch.
Notice if you're comfortable.
Do you need to shift or adjust anything?
In this very moment,
Do that now.
I want you to notice your feet.
Perhaps wiggle your toes,
Tap your feet.
Really notice feet planted.
From there,
I'd like you to scan up your body,
Noting any needs,
Any discomfort.
Noticing it with curiosity,
With care,
And pause a moment at each place that draws your attention.
Notice always with curiosity and care.
See what the need is.
Perhaps you can use your breath to breathe into those places or perhaps your body needs to expand to have a little more space or perhaps there's some nervousness.
See what your body needs from you.
Ask,
What do you need?
Perhaps a kind word needs to be said,
Some encouragement.
Try to listen.
As you continue to scan up your body,
I want you to hang out in the place that for you is center,
Core.
The place within yourself that feels to you like center.
And if you're comfortable touching your body,
Place a hand or hands on that place.
That center point of yourself.
For many,
It may be the heart center.
And I want you to notice,
What do you notice here?
We do so much noticing in this work,
So much curiosity.
I want you to see if there's any needs arising again.
If you can tend to those needs with a breath,
Soothing words,
Whatever it is that you need right now.
And from this place,
Continuing up towards the top of your head,
Your crown chakra.
Again,
Noticing.
It can be good to put a hand on the top of the head.
If you're feeling a little out of body,
Touching the top of the head is touching the top of this body,
Our sacred vessel that holds,
Endures,
And carries so much for us.
And it can be difficult to be in it,
To feel all the feelings,
All the stress and worries of life.
And so we honor ourselves,
Our bodies,
For all it does.
This is a good time for kind words to the self,
To the body,
Deep appreciation.
When you're ready,
Come back to open eyes.
Orient yourself to your space.
Look around.
Feel your feet on the ground.
Wiggle your toes.
Feel your body sitting as you are.
Move your fingers.
Move your body.
As you enter back into open-eyed space and presence,
Remember that throughout your day,
You can check in with your body,
Do a brief body scan,
And tend to yourself.
It only takes a few minutes and makes a huge impact.
