In my previous talks,
I shared why I started meditating,
What true love really means,
And the nature of ego and the world we live in.
Today,
I want to explain how this meditation works in more detail.
Most meditations ask you to focus on your breath,
A mantra,
Or simply observe your thoughts.
This meditation is completely different.
It was discovered by a Japanese man,
And I was fortunate to learn it directly from him through a friend I met in Kyoto.
You start by asking yourself,
What is bothering me right now?
What made me angry,
Sad,
Anxious,
Or upset today?
You recall the moment when that emotion arose,
Look deeply into its real cause,
And meditate directly on it.
You don't push it away.
You don't try to calm yourself down with positive thinking.
Instead,
You look deeply into the experience itself.
You find what made you feel that way.
You feel the emotion fully,
And you release it.
After the meditation,
That specific emotion loses its power over you.
The person or situation that triggered it doesn't disappear from your life,
But your emotional reaction to it does.
And when you are no longer controlled by your emotions,
You start to see the real cause of problems at work and your life more clearly.
There are no rules about when,
Where,
Or how long you meditate.
You can do it anywhere,
On a train,
In a waiting room,
At home.
Whenever an emotion arises,
That is your opportunity.
The only thing you need is a notebook and a pen,
To write down what you are feeling and what you discover.
When you start this meditation,
You may find you have so many things to meditate on that it is difficult to write everything down.
In my case,
I used my smartphone to keep a record of my experiences,
So I wouldn't forget and could return to them when I had time to meditate.
There are no strict rules.
You can arrange your practice in whatever way works best for you.
It will take some time,
On average around a month,
To master the procedure.
In the beginning,
It can be difficult to find the real cause of each emotion.
For some people,
It is also difficult to fully feel an emotion they have spent years pushing away.
The time it takes to master this meditation and find true love varies depending on each person's experience and where they are in their journey.
As you continue this practice,
Something remarkable happens.
First,
You find peace,
Then harmony,
And eventually,
Love.
A permanent,
Unshakable love that doesn't depend on anything outside of you.
Everyone who truly commits to this practice will find love.
That is the most extraordinary thing about this meditation.
It works for everyone.
As long as you are ready to face yourself honestly,
You will find love.
This is not a meditation for relaxation.
This is a meditation for transformation.
It requires courage.
The courage to look at what you have been avoiding.
I found love within one year of starting this practice,
While working full-time and raising a child,
Meditating in small moments whenever I could.
