So hi everyone and thank you for joining me.
I'm honored to guide you through this journey of self-compassion and healing.
So let me share what we are about to explore together.
Self-compassion is simply the practice of treating ourselves with the same kindness you would offer a dear friend,
Especially during difficult moments.
And research has shown that self-compassion is one of the most powerful sources of resilience we have available,
Significantly reducing anxiety and even physical symptoms of stress.
What makes this practice particularly powerful is how we weave it together with somatic awareness connecting with the wisdom that already lives within your body.
Your body is not just a vessel that carries your mind around,
It's also the seat of your deepest intelligence and intuition.
Every emotion,
Every experience,
Every memory lives not just in your thoughts but in the very cells and tissues of your being.
In my practice I've witnessed countless times how transformation happens not just through changing our thoughts but through reconnecting with our body's innate healing wisdom.
The body has an extraordinary capacity to release old pain and to return to its natural state of aliveness and joy.
So this approach recognises that when we have experienced stress,
Trauma or even everyday challenges,
Our nervous system can become activated,
Stuck in the patterns of flight,
Fight or freeze and through gentle,
Compassionate attention to our body's sensations we can help our nervous system find its way back to safety,
Regulation and flow.
So this journey is not about forcing yourself to feel better or pushing away difficult emotions.
Instead we are learning to meet whatever is present in our experience with the same loving presence that we would offer to someone we deeply care about.
This practice draws from ancient wisdom traditions that have always understood the body as sacred.
When we bring mindful,
Compassionate awareness to our bodily sensations we are literally rewiring our nervous system towards greater resilience and inner peace.
So whether you're completely new to meditation or you've been practicing for years,
I invite you to approach this with an open mind,
Curious and ready to discover what your body has been waiting to share with you.
There is no right or wrong way to do this and your only job is to be present with whatever arises,
Treating yourself with the tenderness you would offer to a child.
So let's begin this journey home to yourself.
Find yourself in a comfortable position where your body can feel supported and at ease.
Whether you're sitting,
Lying down or even standing gently,
What matters the most is how you feel held by this moment.
Allow your eyes to soften,
Close your eyes if that feels comfortable and just take a moment to notice where you are right now.
Feeling the surfaces that support you,
The air around your skin,
The natural rhythm of your breath flowing in and out.
Feeling more and more and more still now with every breath.
Your body has carried you through so much,
So today we honor that journey by offering our loving presence.
So let's begin by awakening to the intelligence that lives within each of us.
Place one hand,
Right or left,
Gently on your heart and one hand on your belly.
With your eyes closed,
With my words guiding you,
Feel the warmth of your own touch.
Feel the warmth of your own touch and this simple gesture is already an act of self-compassion.
Your body receiving love from itself.
Notice your heartbeat if you can.
That faithful rhythm that has been with you since before you were born.
With each beat,
Your heart is saying,
I am here,
I am alive and I matter.
I am here,
I am alive and I matter.
Now slowly,
Gently bring your attention to your breath.
Not changing it,
Just witnessing,
Just witnessing.
Now tuning into these subtle bodily sensations develops deeper sensory awareness while dissolving barriers between the body and the mind.
Now feel your belly rising and falling.
Your ribs are gently expanding and the natural pause between breaths.
Your body knows exactly how to breathe for you.
It has never forgotten this ancient wisdom.
If you notice any tension anywhere in your body,
Simply acknowledge it with kindness.
I see you.
You might say that to your tight shoulder or to your clenched jaw.
I see you.
You are trying to protect me and I appreciate that.
I see you.
You are trying to protect me and I appreciate that.
And gently letting any and all areas of tension dissolve as you drop deeper now into the body.
Feeling calm,
Still,
Heavy,
Relaxed.
Watching,
Observing,
Sensing and experiencing.
Nothing to change,
Nothing to push away.
Simply being present with whatever arises.
Now in this sacred space,
Bring to mind something you've been struggling with lately.
Perhaps a mistake that you made,
A fear that you're carrying,
Or simply the weight of daily life.
Notice how your body responds to thinking about this.
Does your chest tighten?
Do your shoulders rise?
Or does your breathing change?
Anything that shows up for you is exactly what you need to see.
Now imagine you could speak directly to your body in this moment.
What would you say?
Now perhaps something like,
Dear body,
You're doing your best.
You're feeling this struggle because you care deeply.
It's okay to feel this right now.
Dear body,
You are doing your best.
You're feeling this struggle because you care deeply.
It's okay to feel this right now.
Now with one hand on the heart,
And the other one on the belly.
Speaking to the body again.
I am here for you with gentleness.
I am here for you with gentleness.
I am here for you with gentleness.
I am here for you with gentleness.
I am here for you with gentleness.
I am here for you with gentleness.
I am here for you with gentleness.
I am here for you with gentleness.
I am here for you with gentleness.
I am here for you with gentleness.
I am here for you with gentleness.
I am here for you with gentleness.
I am here for you with gentleness.
Through this earth,
You're connected to every other person who has ever felt what you're feeling.
Millions of hearts have beaten with the same tender ache that you carry.
Millions of bodies have felt similar tensions and fears.
Let's breathe into this connection now and breathe out any sense of isolation.
Let's breathe into this connection now and breathe out any sense of isolation.
You belong to the great family of beings who love imperfectly,
Struggle beautifully and keep showing up for life.
Now,
Like a loving parent watching over a sleeping child,
Turn your awareness towards whatever emotions or sensations are present in your body right now.
Notice physical feelings without judgment and allowing the raw sensations to unfold.
Perhaps there is sadness in your chest,
Anxiety in your throat,
Exhaustion in your limbs or you may be feeling something else somewhere else.
Whatever is there,
Meet it with a gentle curiosity of someone who cares.
You might silently say this now,
This is a moment of struggle and that's perfectly human.
May I hold this with love.
This is a moment of struggle and that's perfectly human.
May I hold this with love.
This is a moment of struggle and that's perfectly human.
May I hold this with love.
We'll now offer loving attention to different parts of your body,
Not to fix or change anything but simply to acknowledge the vessel that carries your beautiful spirit through life.
Starting with the top of your head,
Imagine a warm golden light gently touching your scalp.
I can see,
Imagine or sense this warm golden light gently touching my scalp.
Thank you for all the thoughts that you process and all the dreams that you hold.
The golden light then moves to your face,
Your eyes that see the beauty,
Your mouth that speaks and nourishes you.
Now we say,
Thank you for expressing my truth in the world.
Thank you for expressing my truth in the world.
Now down to your throat and your neck.
Now this area is the bridge between your heart and your mind and if this area feels tight,
Imagine the light gently dissolving any protection or unsaid words.
Now the light moves down to your shoulders and your arms.
These limbs that reach out to connect,
That work and create and embrace.
Now we say,
Thank you for all the ways you help me touch life.
Thank you for all the ways that you help me touch life.
The light goes further down to your heart and your chest,
The center of feeling,
Loving and breathing.
Just place extra loving attention here,
Bringing gratitude into this sacred space.
And I now take the light down to my belly,
The center of intuition and life force and digestion.
Thank you for processing life.
Thank you for holding my power.
Thank you for processing life.
Thank you for holding my power.
Now I slowly take my attention to my back,
The pillar of support that literally holds you upright through life's challenges.
Thank you for your strength.
Thank you for your resilience.
Thank you for your strength.
Thank you for your resilience.
Slowly now going down to the hips and the pelvis,
The foundation and the roots,
The place where you literally sit with life's experiences.
To the hips and the pelvis we say,
Thank you for grounding me.
Thank you for grounding me.
Now your legs and your feet.
Now these faithful servants that carry you towards your dreams and away from danger.
To the legs and the feet we say,
Thank you for every step of the journey.
Thank you for every step of this journey.
Thank you for every step of this journey.
Now take three conscious breaths,
Imagining that with each exhale you're releasing any criticism,
Judgment or harshness you've been carrying towards yourself.
Breathing in compassion.
Breathing out self-judgment.
Breathing in acceptance.
And breathing out resistance.
Breathing in worthiness.
Breathing out any stories that say otherwise.
The somatic practice of meditation safely releases frozen energy by guiding people to inhabit their bodies with caring,
Compassionate presence.
You have just given yourself this profound gift.
I want you to now feel your whole body as one unified field of aliveness,
Held in your own loving awareness.
Notice any shifts,
Perhaps a softening,
A sense of space,
Or simply the recognition that you are here,
You are breathing,
And you are worthy of love exactly as you are.
You are here,
You are breathing,
And you are worthy of love exactly as you are.
Now,
Place both your hands on your heart,
Feeling the steady rhythm that connects you to life itself,
And make yourself a promise in this space.
I will try to remember that I'm worthy of the same kindness I would offer to a dear friend and when I forget,
I will gently come back to this truth again and again.
I will try to remember that I'm worthy of the same kindness that I would offer to a dear friend and when I forget,
I will gently come back to this truth again and again.
Take a moment now to thank your body for this journey.
Thank yourself for taking this time to practice self-compassion.
When you're ready,
You can gently move your fingers,
Move your toes,
Maybe stretch if that feels good,
And then open your eyes,
Carrying the compassionate presence with you into your day.
Now,
Remember beautiful soul,
You are exactly where you need to be,
And you're worthy of infinite love.
The body benefits from movement and the soul benefits from stillness,
But both benefit infinitely from love.
So,
Thank you very much for joining me today and Namaste.
