
Beyond Cord Cutting: A Meditation To Release Attachments

The meditation guides you to bow to your connections, thank them, bless them, and then lovingly let them go.

So,
Hello everyone and welcome.
So,
In today's meditation,
In today's journey,
We'll explore something that many of us,
Most of us may have likely experienced at some point in our lives.
So,
This energetic bond that we carry with someone from our past.
Now,
There may be a person,
There may be a few people in my life that were once a part of my journey,
They are not a part of my journey anymore,
But they are still very much a part of my life,
Of my mind.
Thoughts,
Memories,
Feelings are still very much there and beyond my conscious control they still show up,
I just can't seem to come out of them.
Now,
In spiritual language,
There is a concept referred to as cord-cutting and when we think of cord-cutting,
Often what comes to mind is,
I can break this connection,
I can erase this person,
I can remove them from my memory,
So they stop taking up space in my mind.
Now,
While the concept is valid,
I feel,
Personally,
It is a bit misunderstood,
Because when we try to cut something away forcefully,
Especially something that once meant something to us,
That was valuable to us,
We are often resisting the lesson that it came to teach us.
So,
We don't heal a wound by ignoring it and we possibly will not find peace by declaring war against our own memories,
By asking them to go.
So,
If you feel you resonate with this,
We can try and reframe this today,
So we can explore this concept from a more compassionate lens.
Just receive my words now,
What if every person that you've crossed paths with,
A friend,
A family member,
A lover,
A boyfriend,
Girlfriend,
Teacher,
Even a stranger,
What if all that was part of the greater divine plan that you cannot see?
What if you were always meant to meet in this life for the exact duration of time that you did and share the experiences that you had together,
Good or bad?
What if the relationship ended not because something went wrong,
But the exchange between your soul was fully complete?
If it's your belief system,
Sometimes we meet people as part of a karmic story or a karmic lesson,
A soul contract,
A lesson we both agreed to walk through together.
Sometimes the lesson we agreed to learn was joy,
Sometimes it was heartbreak and pain.
Often it's both,
Starts off as joy,
My life is perfect,
Everything is great,
I found the thing I was looking for,
I feel whole,
I feel complete and it ends with heartbreak or I have so much pain,
I have this void.
So me and this person,
Me and these people,
We shared something in this life and the universe or God or divine or whatever you want to call it,
In its infinite wisdom,
Will create the exact conditions that will lead to your paths separating.
There are no mistakes in the divine plan,
Ever.
The problem is,
Even after that relationship or friendship ending on a soul level,
Many of us struggle to truly let go and our mind would cling to those experiences.
We cling to the good memories,
To the pleasure,
To the dreams,
What could have been,
What should have been or even to the pain,
To the resentment that we hold,
To the anger that we hold.
And even though the exchange has fully ended,
It is very much alive in our minds,
Replaying these stories,
Reliving these hurts and reopening these wounds is taking your energy and this process is often subconscious.
You have no intention of thinking about them but you can't seem to stop.
There is a part of me which is addicted to these thoughts,
To the pain,
To the pleasure,
To the good,
To the bad memories and I am just witnessing it happen.
I am wondering,
How can I stop this?
Why is this happening to me?
Why can't I stop thinking about them?
Why do I still feel so attached,
Even after all this time?
Now,
We would seek quick fixes.
I want to cut this cord,
I just want them gone,
I just want to erase them and most of the time,
It doesn't work.
So today,
Again,
Only if you think you resonate with this,
Let's try something different.
So let's not call it cord cutting,
Let's call it cord closing.
Now this is a conscious,
Loving and peaceful way of closing an exchange that I once had with someone or something in my life.
We will not fight the memories,
We will not judge the memories,
We will not reject the past and we will not shame ourselves for feeling something.
Instead,
We'll bow,
We'll bow to the connection.
We'll thank it,
We'll bless it and then we'll let it go into the universe with love.
We'll thank it,
We'll bless it and we'll let it go into the universe with love.
There is a possibility,
We live in a world of possibilities,
Infinite possibilities.
So there is a possibility that if I don't release this fully,
Life will keep presenting the same lesson,
The same energy to me again and again and again.
Through a new person,
Through a new story,
Until I finally integrate what this came to teach me.
This person was in my life,
I started to feel perfect,
Whole and complete.
Now they are not in my life and I don't feel perfect,
Whole and complete.
So maybe it's an invitation to find something in me that was always there and I'm going to explore and find that wholeness in me today.
So we'll work today on gently cord closing with grace,
Maturity,
Compassion.
So let's begin.
Now find a quiet,
Comfortable place where you won't be disturbed and you can do this meditation sitting up or lying down.
As you're lying down now,
Let your body begin to soften and you can just simply start by breathing,
Breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Just taking a few conscious breaths here.
Now every breath that I take in,
I start to feel a little bit more open,
A little bit more relaxed.
A little bit more open,
A little bit more relaxed.
Every breath out,
Any resistance,
Stress or unaligned energies,
They begin to leave me.
Anything that I don't need in this present moment is now moving away.
Allow your breath now to ground you,
To anchor you.
Feel the surface of the ground beneath you.
Know,
Trust and feel that you were guided here today for a reason and your body feels supported.
We'll just spend a few more seconds here,
Letting me find that safety in my body.
Now I invite you to put your left palm on your heart center,
Your left hand on your heart and as you breathe into your heart,
Bring to mind a person from your past.
Someone that you feel still lingers in your energy field,
In your mind.
It could be a past relationship,
A family member,
A friend,
Someone who hurt you,
Someone you miss.
And let this come into your awareness gently,
Don't force it,
Just allow.
Whatever shows up for you today is exactly what you need to experience.
Just allow that to come to you now.
Now I can either have a vision of this person,
I can just have an awareness of who they are or I may just be feeling something in my body.
Anything is possible and anything is okay,
You cannot get this process wrong.
Now I want you to imagine you and this person are standing a few feet apart in an open field,
In a room,
In a garden or anywhere else.
You may see their face,
You may see their name or you just let my words guide you.
Me and this person that I feel energetically connected to,
We are now standing a few feet apart.
For the next few seconds,
You don't need to talk,
Just observe,
Watch.
The space between the two of you is the experiences that you have shared together.
So look down now,
The space between you is the experiences that you have shared together.
There may be good times,
Bad times,
Pain,
Memories,
Anything else that comes to your awareness now.
Now between the two of you,
I want you to imagine a white light.
This white light is stretching from your heart and going into their heart.
If any other color comes to you,
That's perfectly fine too.
I see now this white light stretching from my heart to theirs.
Now this connection that you have just created represents the bond that you formed with them through your shared experiences and lessons.
Notice how your body responds.
If there is anything that needs to show up for you today,
Anything that you feel either in your body or if something is coming up in your awareness,
A memory,
A flash,
A vision,
Just allow this process to happen.
Now,
If you still have your left palm on your heart center,
You can say these words either out loud or inwardly or you can also just receive my words.
Thank you for being a part of my journey.
We met for a reason.
We shared something sacred together.
Today,
I honor that our paths are no longer the same.

Spend a few seconds now to see how your body is responding to these statements.
Am I feeling any sensations,
Any release,
Any emotions?
Just allow all that to happen.
You cannot get this process wrong.
Now,
You'll bring your other hand over your heart center as well.
If you already had your left hand there,
You'll put your right hand on your heart as well.
Both my hands on my heart.
And now once again,
Repeat,
Listen or inwardly repeat them.
I bless you with love.
I forgive you.
I forgive myself.
Our exchange is complete.
And I let you go with love.

Pay attention to the way your body is responding to this.
Regardless of the nature of our experience together,
I am now open to the possibility that this was just a simple exchange on a soul level which had to play out.
I had to experience what I experienced.
They had to experience what they experienced.
And there are factors beyond my control that brought the two of us together.
I bless you with love.
I forgive you.
I forgive myself.
Our exchange is complete.
And I let you go with love.
Just taking a few breaths here.
And letting your body move,
Shift,
Change any residual energy from the deepest parts of your body,
Of your cells.
And remember,
We are not forcing anything.
There is no anger.
There is no fear.
There is only grace.
There is only grace.
There is only grace.
Now as I am seeing them in front of me,
I begin to see that the white light that connected us is now just coming back to me.
I can still see them,
But it's like that light that went from my heart to theirs is now coming back into my heart.
Every inhale,
The light comes back,
Back,
Back,
Back,
Back,
Back.
Now,
There is no light connecting us,
But I do see white light in my heart,
And I also see white light in their heart.
We are not connected,
But the light in me sees the light in them.
The light in me sees the light in them.
Now,
See them smiling.
And remember,
This is not a goodbye.
This is not you letting this go forever.
This is you honoring an exchange that life presented to you.
And as you do this,
You are opening yourself up to the next exchange,
To the next story.
Now,
At this stage,
Maybe they turn,
And they are walking away,
And you feel warmth,
You feel safety,
You feel comfort.
You may also be feeling some emotional release,
And that's perfectly normal.
Just let it happen.
Even though I am standing alone now,
I feel whole,
Clear,
And lighter.
I can feel the space around my heart expanding.
Just breathe for a while.
Sometimes this process can bring up emotions.
Just breathe.
Now,
With both your hands on your heart,
We'll say these words.
I am whole.
I am at peace.
I am free.
I am whole.
I am at peace.
Now,
You can either pause this meditation,
And stay here for a bit longer,
Till your body finds silence and stillness again,
Or you can slowly bring your awareness back to yourself.
We'll start by focusing on our feet.
Then I'll bring my awareness to my calves,
To my legs,
To my hips,
My stomach,
My heart,
Shoulders,
Arms,
Hands.
I can now wiggle my fingers,
Wiggle my toes.
Feel the ground beneath you.
Take a deep breath,
And as you exhale,
You're very,
Very,
Very welcome to open your eyes.
So thank yourself for showing up for you today.
Thank you for having the courage to release with love.
And may this be the closing of a chapter,
Not with resistance,
But with love.
