Hey there,
This is a breath-focused practice for whenever you'd like to step away from the constant doing of life and press pause for a bit.
Few quiet moments to simply be here.
Nothing to take in.
Nothing to respond to.
Feel free to lie down for this one or settle into a comfy position of your choice.
Let your attention turn inward.
Notice how your body feels.
Is there any tension you're carrying,
Perhaps in your shoulders,
Your jaw,
Or somewhere else?
Imagine sending your breath into those areas.
Giving them a little space to relax and soften.
Now bring your awareness to your breath.
Begin to gently deepen your inhale,
Breathing in for a count of four.
And then let your exhale lengthen to a count of six.
We'll take two rounds together.
Breathe in,
Two,
Three,
Four.
And out 2 3 4 5 6 again breathing in Two.
Three.
Four.
And slowly out 2,
3,
4,
5,
6.
Now continue with this rhythm for 3 more rounds on your own.
Keeping everything comfortable and unforced.
If the counting or longer exhale doesn't feel right for you,
Simply return to your natural breath.
Gradually let go of the counting.
And allow your breath to return to its natural pace.
Notice how it feels to no longer guide the breath.
And simply let it flow in and out.
Let yourself rest here for a few more moments.
This isn't another thing to accomplish in your day.
Is simply an invitation to step away from all the doing.
Return to your breath.
And enjoy a little pause.
Whenever you're ready,
Bring your awareness to your immediate surroundings.
The ground beneath you.
The air on your skin.
And the sounds nearby.
Take one last comfortable breath in.
And gently breathe out.
And as you return to the rest of your day,
Remember that you can keep this little practice in your back pocket You don't have to wait until you're overwhelmed or exhausted to take a moment for yourself.
Sometimes you can simply press pause.
And until next time,
Have a good one.
