As-salāmu ʿalaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Welcome to this guided meditation on the Divine Name of Allah,
Al-Shakūr,
The Most Appreciative.
Over the next few minutes,
We will explore the profound concept of gratitude and the limitless appreciation that Allah,
Al-Shakūr,
Has for His creation.
I'd like you to begin by finding a comfortable position,
Either sitting or lying down.
Really take your time to get as comfortable as possible.
And when you've found that position,
See if there's anything you can do to get even 5% more comfortable.
Allow the body to get heavy and sink into the ground,
Completely supported,
With no effort at all.
Allow yourself to soften.
Allow yourself to really just relax.
This is your time,
And this is your space.
Now let your eyelids get heavy and gently come to a soft close,
Allowing you to tune in to the interiority of sensation inside your body,
And center yourself in the present moment.
Take a deep breath in,
Inhaling slowly,
And exhale gently,
Letting it all out,
Along with any tension or worries.
As you breathe,
Bring your awareness to the concept of gratitude,
A quality deeply embedded in the essence of al-Shakūr.
Visualize a soft,
Warm,
Golden light engulfing you,
Emanating from the name of Allah,
Al-Shakūr.
This light represents the appreciative nature of the divine.
Feel this wonderful,
Healing light permeating every cell of your being.
Filling you up with a sense of gratitude and appreciation for the blessing of life and all the little blessings that surround you.
With every inhale,
This light of al-Shakūr gets brighter.
Reflect on the nature of al-Shakūr.
Envision the countless blessings in your life,
Both big and small.
So much has brought you to this moment,
From small moments of joy to big challenges that shaped who you are,
And many people who have touched your heart in various ways on this journey through your life.
Through no fault of their own,
The people in our life are naturally imperfect.
We have undoubtedly felt,
At times,
Like our efforts haven't always been fully seen or acknowledged by others.
Perhaps we have felt that we have been taken for granted.
But Allah has no imperfections and is all-seeing.
Allah has witnessed every drop of effort you have ever poured out.
Al-Shakūr is aware of and appreciates every detail of your existence.
Every good deed you have ever done.
And every bad deed that you never did.
None of your effort,
None of your essence,
None of your talents,
However subtle or minute,
Have ever gone unnoticed.
None of your talents,
However subtle or minute,
Have ever gone unnoticed by Al-Shakūr,
The source of appreciation itself.
The truth is that you have probably overlooked much of the unique,
One-of-a-kind beauty that you bring to this world.
Take a moment to forgive yourself for overlooking just how exquisitely beautiful,
Down to the finest detail,
Allah has created you.
Al-Shakūr recognizes and acknowledges all your strengths and weaknesses,
Showering you with appreciation for the beauty you recognize in yourself and the beauty you can't see.
Our appreciation is really but a pale imitation of the source of all appreciation,
And Al-Shakūr appreciates his creation more deeply and powerfully than we are capable of comprehending.
You are valuable beyond measure.
Even as you just breathe,
Doing very little on the surface,
You are treasured and appreciated by Al-Shakūr.
Now,
Take a moment to consciously connect with a feeling of gratitude for the safety of the space you are in now and the luxury of having this time to reflect in meditation.
There is no gratitude we could possibly feel except what comes from Allah,
The source of all gratitude and appreciation.
Allow the physical sensation of gratitude to flow through you like a gentle stream,
Embracing every aspect of your past,
Present,
And future.
Recognize that in Allah's all-encompassing vision,
Every effort,
Every step is acknowledged and appreciated.
If you'd like to,
I invite you to place a hand over your heart and feel it overflowing with gratitude like a happy fountain.
This gratitude was sent directly into the depths of your beautiful heart by the infinite source of all gratitude.
Express your gratitude to Allah,
Al-Shakūr.
Offer thanks for the countless blessings in your life,
For the lessons learned through challenges,
And for the love that surrounds you.
Feel the connection between your gratitude and the infinite ocean of gratitude from Al-Shakūr.
As we conclude,
Bring your awareness back to the present moment.
Carry this sense of gratitude that you've cultivated now with you,
Knowing that your expressions of thanks are received and appreciated by the most appreciative,
Al-Shakūr.
When you're ready,
Gently open your eyes.
Carry this spirit of gratitude with you as you continue your day,
And know that you can return to this meditation anytime you want to,
To connect with gratitude and to reflect on Al-Shakūr.
Peace and blessings be upon you.
