We need healthy ego to be able to function in the world, just as we need healthy boundaries, so we don't become too weak and allowing to be mistreated by those who like to take advantage of the naturally more giving people. We will have ego as long as we exist as humans, however, it is important to discern where it is healthy and where it is not.
