The Forest Sit in a comfortable position for your visualisation.
Cross legged on the floor or sit in a chair with your back straight and your feet touching the floor.
Begin to relax.
Let your mind become clear,
Leaving behind the worries,
Thoughts and tensions of the day.
Be in the here and now.
You are comfortable,
Calm and relaxed.
Allow the tension to flow down through your body into the floor.
Feel the muscles in your body relaxing.
Begin to tune in to your body's natural rhythms.
Become aware of your body,
From your head down to your feet.
Focus on your breathing in and out.
Deep strong breaths in,
Slow controlled breaths out.
Feel the cool air coming into your body and the warm air going out.
Slow steady breathing.
Allow the focus to calm your mind,
To calm your body.
Any noises you may hear pass through you without disturbing you.
You are totally aware of your body and its gentle flow as your chest rises and falls with each breath.
Be aware of the silence between each breath out and the next breath in.
You are following your body's natural rhythms.
Your body is now calm and peaceful.
Your muscles are completely relaxed.
Now focus your mind,
See yourself in a field,
A beautiful green lush field.
Feel the grass beneath your feet.
There is a gentle breeze blowing through your hair.
You can feel the sun warming your skin.
You breathe in the fresh country air.
Deep slow breaths in and out.
You can hear the sound of water running to your left and there is a wide stream running down the side of the field.
You decide to go over to the stream and to follow it.
You are at the edge of the stream now and the sun is glinting off the water surface.
You start walking slowly alongside it.
You decide to stop for a minute and reach down into the water.
You feel it running over your hand,
Rushing through your fingers,
Calling you in the heat of the day.
You can see weeds billowing beneath the water's surface and fish darting right and left.
Then you stand again,
Shake the water off your hand and allow the sun's rays to warm it away.
You now resume your walk along the water's edge.
There are some cows gently grazing to your right.
They're paying you no attention.
You walk on by.
As you walk beside the stream you start looking for a crossing,
Because you know that when you find the crossing,
Waiting on the other side is a messenger with an important message for you.
As you search,
You see five boulders forming steps across the stream.
You take one step onto the first boulder and you cross the rushing water.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five.
And then you step off onto the far bank.
Before you is the messenger whom you thank for coming to meet you.
The message you are given has significance for you now at this time in your life.
Clear your mind and allow yourself to absorb the knowledge and understanding that the messenger brings you.
Be clear.
Be happy to accept the gift from the messenger and spend some time in contemplation.
Now is the time to continue on your journey.
Turn and follow a path leading towards a forest.
You can still feel the sun on your skin.
You are breathing in the clear country air.
You can hear the wind rustling the leaves in the trees ahead of you.
The light begins to change as you step onto the edge of the forest.
The light is dappled through the branches.
Ahead of you is a beautiful young deer.
You meet her eyes and you know that she wants you to follow her.
She turns and walks further into the forest.
She looks back at you to make sure that you are following.
You journey deep into the forest.
The twigs crackle beneath your feet as you walk on.
The smell of tree bark and summer leaves fills the air.
You see a streaming bright light ahead and realise that a clearing is coming into view and that the deer has been leading you towards it.
You go into the clearing.
In the middle is a stone shaped like a seat which you sit upon.
It is cool beneath your touch yet you are warmed by the summer sun.
You take deep long breaths and soak up the light.
You can hear the noise of woodland animals.
You are contented and at peace.
You are calm and relaxed.
This is your time and your space to recharge and refresh.
Here and now you have no worries,
No fears,
Just calm,
Peaceful tranquility.
You have been waiting for this healing time.
You have reached your destination.
You are at one and at peace.
You sit on the stone absorbing the light.
Knowledge and wisdom come to you when you are at peace.
A feeling of contentment surrounds you and envelops you.
The deer that has led you to this place walks up to the stone.
As you look into her eyes you feel an understanding and connection with nature and all living creatures.
You are a part of a whole.
You are in tune with the deer and the forest,
The vibrancy of the light around you.
You can feel a life force.
You are at one with the stone that supports you,
The air that you breathe,
The light which warms you,
The earth beneath your feet,
The wind gently rustling your hair.
The brown-eyed deer looks deep into your eyes.
You feel a harmony with this space,
A moment in time.
You feel a happiness and contentment that you can take back with you into your everyday life.
Just sit for a while and enjoy the moment.
Nurture this feeling and remember it.
You realise that it is now time to continue your journey.
Touch the cool stone as you stand and give thanks to it.
The deer is moving towards the trees.
Your time here is coming to an end.
But you will carry the feeling of peace with you.
The feeling of life and joy suffuses your body as you walk towards the trees.
You hear the sound of the deer's hooves on the dry earth.
You move out of the clearing into the canopy of trees.
The smell of the forest fills your senses once again.
But this time you feel a part of the forest,
No longer a visitor.
The ferns at the base of the trees wave in the gentle breeze.
The treetops rustle.
You absorb all the details around you as you follow the soft,
Hoofed deer.
You reach the edge of the forest.
There is a bright light ahead of you.
You turn to the deer for your parting.
You thank her for her guidance for taking you to your sanctuary.
You follow the path that will take you back to the stream and the stream's crossing.
You can hear the sound of the water now as you get nearer and nearer.
You search for the five boulder crossing.
It is beckoning you on.
You are coming home.
When you reach the crossing point,
Stop for a moment and remember your message.
Take this knowledge with you back into your daily life.
Then you step onto the first boulder.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five.
You jump up onto the bank.
The cows grazing in the field look up at you.
You feel a new harmony and knowledge as you look into their big brown eyes.
You smile with your new awareness and understanding.
Then you follow back along the side of the stream to take you back to the beginning of your journey into the forest.
You find yourself at the top of the field.
You begin to become aware of your body in the here and now.
Sitting in your space.
Aware of your arms,
Your legs.
Take in a deep,
Steady breath.
You start to move your hands.
Move your feet.
Continue taking deep,
Steady breaths.
Open your eyes.
You are back from your journey,
But you have brought with you understanding,
Awareness and peace.
Stand up and walk around the room touching familiar objects.
You are grounded in the here and now,
But you keep the magic of your journey with you.
