Transcript

Welcome to the official podcast of the Grammy-nominated record label Metta Mindfulness Music,

Where we discuss how the ancient wisdom and neuroscience of our sound healing music can improve your health,

Well-being,

And transform your life into an inspired,

Positive experience.

I'm your host,

Pete Serdan,

And this week we will be continuing our series discussing our album and meditation course,

Six Healing Sounds,

Based on the traditional East Asian medicine practices of Qi Gong.

The first healing sound or element of Qi Gong we will be discussing is the metal element.

You are currently listening to our music track titled Metal from the Six Healing Sounds album by Yuval Ron,

Which was composed in the key of D,

Utilizing the same tonal assignment as the healing sound of metal from ancient East Asian wisdom traditions.

Activating the metal element is tied to the health of the lungs,

Reducing chest congestion and symptoms of depression,

Like sadness and grief.

Now,

We will listen to an excerpt from day one of our 10-day meditation course,

The Six Healing Sounds of Qi Gong,

Narrated by the president and executive producer of Metta Mindfulness Music,

Dr.

Richard Gould,

Where he introduces the concept of the metal element and its positive impact on the lungs,

Followed by a demonstration of breathing and stretching exercises you can practice to support your immune system and manage symptoms of depression.

We will begin our journey through the Six Healing Sounds with the metal element.

The primary organ associated with the element of metal is the lungs.

The lungs are the most external of the internal organs,

With a direct connection through the breath with the environment that surrounds us.

The metal element corresponds with the key of D.

We will vocalize the healing sound,

Produced with a long,

Slow exhalation,

With the tongue placed behind the gently touching teeth.

The energy pathway of the lungs runs from the upper chest,

Down the insides of both arms,

And terminates just at the edge of the thumbnail.

The lungs correspond to the autumn season and the color white.

The taste that energizes the metal element is spicy.

The energy of the lungs is at the maximum from 3 to 5 a.

M.

The positive emotions associated with the lungs are courage,

Justice,

Righteousness,

And detachment.

As we strengthen our lungs,

We let go of grief and sorrow.

We will begin either sitting comfortably in a chair or standing.

Bring your attention to the sounds of the music.

Gently place your palms on your upper chest area and feel the rising and the falling of the breath.

Let your arms fall to your sides.

Take a deep focused breath and begin to raise your arms up in front of you with your palms facing upward.

Let your eyes follow the movement of your hands.

When your hands reach eye level,

Rotate your palms to now face upward toward the sky and continue raising your hands up above your head.

When your arms are fully extended upward with your palms reaching out to touch the sky,

You can feel a profound opening of your entire chest region.

Close your jaw so that your teeth are gently meet and part your lips slightly.

As you exhale,

Allowing the air to pass through the spaces between your teeth,

Make the healing sound.

When you have exhaled completely,

Rotate your palms downward and allow your hands to float back down to your sides.

Close your eyes and continue to breathe normally.

Pay attention to any shifts in your feelings and awareness.

Repeat the exercise five more times for a total of six repetitions.

Following the practice,

Expect to experience a stronger immune system,

A sense of righteousness and justice,

And an increased endurance facing possible grief and sorrow.
